    Hey everyone!

Here is what I came up with for my GFs 2nd gen Tacoma. It would fit the 3rd gen too.

The bracket bolts to the seat frame itself and is 12 gauge steel. The final product would be powder coated black. Unfortunately because the seat adjustment bar is so low, I had to design the bracket with enough room to reach the bar. I also added in two different locations where adjustments can be made to provide more space to grab the bar. The bracket can slide outward about an inch from where it is in these photos and it can also tilt forward to make more space. I have no problems getting my hands in there even at the tightest adjustment.

It works for both sides as well. I also have a strap mechanism that allows you to strap MOLLE pouches or anything with a belt clip to the bracket as well. In my land cruiser, I have the fire extinguisher on the passenger side and a couple MOLLE pouches on the driver with my stuans, tire gauge, gloves, etc.

Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks!

    Rami

Cool idea. Would buy it if my leg space wasn't already cramped. 6'8" and I need all I can.

I know the front is more accessible but what about a bracket for behind the drivers seat?

Have you considered the forces that would occur on the bolts/bracket during a car accident?

I could go for one of these for about $80.
How large of fire extinguishers does this fit in that placement if you would know.
Could you post a picture of it slid all the way forward or is that one of the pictures you already posted?
Would there be a lower cost for unpainted version?

Beyond accessibility, you'd lose all the limited legroom for the rear passengers.

As for accidents, the hardware and gauge of material is way overkill for that reason. The extinguisher hitting your feet would the least of your worries in an accident with enough of an impact to tear 12 gauge steel.

The typical 2.5 is what's recommended. I know someone got a 5 on the 100 series mount and said it was very secure.

The pictures show it pretty much all the way in, besides the tilt forward you can see in one of the photos.

I can take some with it slid all the way out, but it will have to wait till tomorrow.

I could possibly do unfinished. They would be about $10-15 cheaper.

They've been for sale for a while. Owlexpedition.com

Seems to not be much interest from the Tacoma crowd, so I'll probably discontinue.

I didn’t know about your Owl Expedition bracket until your post today.

I’ve used the “Bracketeer” mount in my Gen 1 and Gen 2 Tacomas and an H3R mount in my 1962 Triumph TR3 for passenger seat-front extinguisher mounts. I’m not crazy about the Bracketeer mounts because they restrict seat travel and they’re kind of clunky the way the pieces bolt together.

Look for an order for at least one Tacoma bracket —

Like the idea, not keen on the location.

There really not a better location for quick access, which is the most important thing in a situation where an extinguisher is needed.

If you're really short, like 4', it may interfere with your leg room. The seats are so low on these tacos that if you put you calves up against the extinguisher, your knees would be in the steering wheel.

Mines tucked between the back seat and sidewall. Fits like a glove.

Some more info about bracket installation might help sell them. I always look at the install directions before deciding whether or not to purchase something.

I do need to do that. It's been too busy. It's essentially 2 bolts on either side of the seat. About 25 min to install.

In the end, I wasn't able to fit the Owl Expedition fire extinguisher kit to my 2015 DC TRD. The side bracket holes that attach to the seat would not line up with my frame and still clear the rest of the seat. The vendor wasn't able to provide any advice to help. The kit is sitting in my parts stash for now and would require mods (relatively minor, admittedly) to be fitted, which I haven't tackled yet.

If anyone has fit one of these to their Tacoma, lemme know how you did it. Perhaps the 2015 seats are different in some way we're not aware of compared to earlier ones. (That's quite possible.) Even more likely is that I'm doing something wrong, like orienting the side brackets to taper inward rather than taper outward (although in that case they'd appear to interfere with the trim panel clip.)

Here's the interference I'm faced with. You can see where relief needs to be created around the lower slotted hole or on the upper edge behind the panel clip.

For now, I'm continuing to use a "Bracketeer" mount. This universal bracket works, but the Owl Expeditions mount would be nicer because it would allow the extinguisher to move fore-aft with the seat adjustment.
