2nd Annual AZBDR

Is anyone using a PLB on the Trails, if you do, what are you using?

im looking into the Garmin InReach Plus

 

I’ll be bringing my garmin inreach. Also have a 50w dual band radio, CB radio, and obviously cell phone.

i already have those.... but lookin jnto a PLB and a cellphone amp

 

I’m all for getting cool new gear, but for this run I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary. A good portion of the trail has decent signal for cell service.

That being said I feel like if you wanna get it for the extra security, I support that decision.

 

I got lost once on Greer AZ and my radios were not working lol. thankfully i found some jeeps on the trail

 

Ok I'm the dummy here but what is a PLB ? personal low ban ??

So what sections of the BDR is the group running? Or has that not yet been decided?

 

Just found out I’ll be getting eye surgery and have follow up appointments that Friday and weekend. I’m going to have to pass this time around. Sorry folks.

 

It seem is still undecided.

 

^ I agree that it still seems undecided, but I think most of us want the Phx to Flag portion of the trail, as opposed to the further south section.

 

Yea seems that way. That’s the portion I’ll probably do, since it’ll put me right at home when I finish

 

So looking like sections 5-7 then. Still in the maybe category but leaning towards going. Waiting on wife’s schedule. Anyone bringing kids on this?

 

For those of us that ran the southernmost portion last year, we were tentatively planning to pick up where we left off meaning start just north of San Manuel, Az and head on up through Globe, Young etc up to Flag. There are a few of us willing to start at the beginning though for anyone that wants to do that. It’s a really nice trail and we have already found some amazing camp spots that will fit really large groups.

 

I'm in for what ever is agreed upon.

 

I am also in for whatever is agreed upon, and I am still interested in starting earlier (thursday or friday) if anyone wants to run a longer portion of the trail with me.
