We should set up a weekend/mini excursion. Start out crossing through slickrock up to highway 4, drive down and hit up deer valley - the gate keeper and hill climb will give a stock tacoma a very hard time, sliders/armor unless you dont mind body damage. From there people could bail out if they wanted, or drive down and hit Strawberry pass back to 50. Its a quite a bit of driving but youd hit 3 pretty fun trails in a weekend.
At the very least, if your driving all the way to slickrock you might as well hit deer valley  Can do those in a day or two, or three, depending on how long you wanna take.

Sorry to go back a few pages, but I was readin through and saw some questions frome everyone.
By slick rock do you mean signal peak or eagles lake? Cause SR is off of highway 4 in bear valley ski resort which is hours away.
Signal Peak is 4.2 miles to the top going the hard way (starting out off eagle lakes exit) and continues on for another 7.0 miles on a dirt road.
Eagle Lakes has trails galore all scattered out in the area. They all just splinter off and dead end at some small lake or river. I spent a couple days out there last summer exploring damn near every route I could find. Stock can wheel in to eagle lakes and explore all the surrounding trails, and the modded crew could continue on to the first water crossing down Fordyce with minor difficulties.

Hope I didnt take anything out of context and misread some of the discussions, just trying to help clarify.

Could try ellis peak trail? Not a tough wheeling trail but would be great scenery for all those 'significant others' ;) Little bit of a back track as it pops out on the end of the Rubicon.

Other than that - hell hole, barrett lake, forydce, signal peak? Pick your poison.
    Just throwin ideas around

I was scrollin through a couple of those vids, HH might be a lil much for my liking lol. No skids, no locker, and ifs on 33's = some serious damage by the looks of it. Couple spots on that trail look pretty hairy lol

Yeah most of them have bypasses, and it's all about how you drive. I agree though if you don't at least have skids then you can get yourself into some hairy spots.

BTW it doesn't look like I'm going to be making it this year. Gonna be heading down south for the birthday. I'll keep my eye on this thread though.

It looks like I will be attending this. Seth convinced me, LOL. I will prob just drive up for the day to wheel and go back home. As for anyone who is looking to wheel Deer Valley and Slick Rock, I will be planning a weekend in the near future to wheel those two trails. I have wheeled Slick Rock stock all the way to the end but did not want to get dragged up the last obstacle with a winch. The rain and hail didn't help either. Have not wheeled Deer Lake but know many who have and from their accounts it is doable with careful spotters and patience.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.

Well I think the no locker is really your only problem IFS,33's & No Skids it can be done with some careful driving. The only thing I won't have is skids by this trip well I might that is over 2 months away :D

I think Hell hole or Strawberry Pass are the only options unless we want to hit an easy trail and who want's that :D.

    Hell Hole

Or we could go north and hit the Sierra Buttes and Gold Valley or Deer Lake and maybe see how far we can make it up Snake lake :D all those trails run together so it should be short unless we hit Snake Lake. Can you tell I want to do some wheelin :D

Jlee, is that the Norcal "California Backroads & 4wd Trails"? Its a good book lol, thats how Ive done all my exploring the past two summers.

Anyways, I think that Northern section near Chico might be a good excuse for another great camping trip. Its fairly desolate but we'd get a nice open camp spot by one of the lakes. Like you said, all of those trails are so linked together that if you look close enough we could probably wheel almost all of those trails in two outtings/runs/days. I know NorCal TTORA was wanting to make a run at those over this summer so maybe we could all link up. I've wanted to check out that area for quite some time so maybe this is the summer to do it.

and who doesnt have that crazy itch to go wheeling ?! I can smell the wheeling and camping bug in the air even in Sac
