Removed front spoiler, Toyota All Weather Mats, Toyota sill protectors, Towing package with Curt tow bar & hitch, tinted front driver & passenger windows @28% Llumar Film, removed pinstripes, added 4x4 TRD Off Road decals, Toyota OEM mud flaps, BFG KO2 265/75/16 tires, ...more to come.
When I bought my truck, December 2015, it was hard starting during first week. Took it to Autozone for a free battery test--sure enough, battery was below needed cranking amps. Took truck to dealer and they confirmed and replaced battery. No issues since. Went in last Friday for 20k service. They came to me in waiting room and said "Mr. XXXX, can we speak to you for a moment?" They went on to explain that everything checked out good on inspection, but that I needed a new battery. I was like "what?". They said, it will be no charge. I said, "no it is just weird", go ahead and replace it.... isn't this weird?

Guess its a fluke that you got 2 bad ones in a row.

The strangest thing is...with the first battery I noticed problems. With the second battery I noticed nothing. But, yes, a fluke I guess.

Probably a good thing they decided to do a check on it when they did versus the alternative of it dying on you somewhere remote.

True, I just hope something is not wrong with truck that is either 1. Not charging battery properly or 2. Draining battery prematurely

I took delivery of my Tacoma in December 2015 too. No problems with my battery. I generally get about 5 years out of batteries that came with my previous new Toyotas. Do you have the Tow Package which comes with a bigger alternator?

Sounds more like a faulty ground or a weak alternator.

Only thing I've seen cause this is mice chewing the wires and or some type of aftermarket device like a GPS tracker or alarm.

Could also be the dealer claiming a bad battery and charging Toyota for the replacement.
