I'd also stay away from cheap aftermarket replacements.
You have a good chance of being right back where you are now. (or worse)

For anyone following or that may have the same issue in the future I'll keep posting updates.

I opened a ticket with aFe and they responded asking to have the unit shipped back to them so that their engineering team can perform tests on it to see if they can fix it. If they can't they will ship me a new one. I also happened to find my oe TB, I had put it in the aFe TB box!

I'm going to try getting the oe back on in the next couple days and will see if codes clear

 

I wonder if theres an aFe rep that Lurks around tacomaworld that could help with making this process smooth and painless [of course outside of making the part work the first time that is ]

 

Quick follow up. I've installed the oem TB and no codes are being thrown now. My cruise control is back for the first time since installing the aFe TB and it's running silky smooth.
