    Hello Folks
    I have a quick TPMS question . I have a 2022 SR double cab 4x4 6Cyl.Auto Trans
I recently purchased a sweet set of Gen 2 TRD wheels with OEM Gen 2 TPMS with full set of Hankook Tires . I swapped them out with my stock steel wheels and figured my TPS light would switch on . Fast forward 400+ miles and no dash light- until today the light came on. Can anyone tell me why the dash light did not come on when I made the swap? I just figured my spare tire kept the dash light off. I have read that gen 2 tpms do not work with gen3 equipment. vis versa.
Any thoughts? I will purchase gen 3 TPMS and swap out /program. I just wonder why the gen 2 tps did not set off the truck tpms light for over a month.
    Thanks

Correct, 2nd Gen TPMS sensors do not work in 3rd Gen Tacomas and vice versa. I have tried with two different wheels already.
3rd Gen Tacoma TPMS ECU/PCM can not see nor can be programmed to a 5th sensor. Early 2nd Gen Tacomas have a TPMS ECU/PCM that sees and works with five sensors.
No idea what happens with yours.
Where are your OEM spare wheels located?

My OEM are in my garage. Not in the bed lol A bit of a mystery for sure.
The light will reset parked in the garage but it did not turn on when I drove it initially on a few long trips not returning to my garage.
It is disappointing that Toyota created such a nightmare with TPMS that dont learn themselves. I recently sold a 2020 Ranger that was so easy with wheel swaps. My Ranger would ID which wheel was low on pressure and self learn when installing new wheels. For all the hassle you would think Toyota would have made it a better system letting you know what tire is low?
    Thanks for your input.

There have been a few posts here in TW where the 3rd Gen sees the stack of tires sitting next to the truck, drives away on a different set of sensor’d wheels, and the light isn’t triggered for a while.

If you want to keep your TPMS working correctly with other wheel sets, get a set of clone sensors, I prefer Autel MX 315, and have each one use one of the OEM sensors ID numbers. No programming the PCM/ECU as the numbers are already in the system. When you swap wheels, follow the OM directions for the TPMS button by your left knee.
