I'm looking into getting a supercharger or turbocharger kit installed on my 2011 taco. Any recommendations on brands. Also supercharger vs turbo.

I believe Magnusson makes a kit and the latest one to be release a kit is Procharger. The procharger one is quite new so I think there is some dialing that needs to be done

I have never heard anything about a turbo on these trucks, not saying there isn’t any just rare if so. If you’re going to boost, supercharger will be the way to go with all the options and support available.

magnuson still makes them for the 4.0, reliable bolt on power. If you really wanna go fast ide get the procharger

I do like that the Procharger comes with the HPTuner flash, if you go that route. The URD SC comes with the Bully Dog flash and I hear negative stuff about that. Although, if I got the URD Magnuson one I'd get the self-tune one and have it tuned separately with HPTuners.

Just installed the Magnuson kit and had a spare ECU flashed with the factory TRD tune by @JustDSM. Engine-wise, other than cam gears, my truck is stock. Torque everywhere and still getting decent fuel mileage if I keep my foot out of it. Feels like a V8 now. Loving every minute of it.

Appreacite your reply brotha. If you don't mind me asking what were your gains? I really like the Magnuson still can't make up my mind which to get.

secondary question: anybody put a supercharger on an engine with 140 thousand miles or more? I have about that on mine and was thinking of beefing it up. Runs great, all maintenance is kept up with.

Haven't dyno'd mine but it certainly feels every bit of the 305hp that Magnuson claims. Doing a MAF reading calculation, I'm right around 315hp which is on par with what I'd expect with the cam gears. Others with more intake, exhaust, pulley, etc mods are making much more.

I installed my S/C with 121,000 miles. It's good to go through everything and make sure the engine is in good health beforehand. I replaced some parts during my install like gaskets, idler pulleys, the main serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat, etc while I had access for peace of mind given the mileage.
