It was the motor mount. I don't have any pictures either unfortunately. But it was just enough to clear the new starter. It's just because the URD equal lengths twist and take up so much room. They had to pull the header completely to get to the starter and mount on the driver side. It was a 2 week episode of one thing after another... got pricey real quick..

Ok thanks. Hopefully the Dough Thorley headers don't interfere, :fingerscrossed: Just placed my order tonight for the motor and trans mounts :)

Interested to see if they do as well. Good luck! Regardless, after all that, they are still worth it.

Please let me know I have DTLT's and am considering these, if they fit with the headers then that's one more reason to add it to the list.

I will update as soon as I install them! Hoping Ryan can get these out the door fairly quick, although I realize with a quality custom product, it takes some time :D

Ive never heard of a header clearance issue so far but most companies don't make equal length primaries on their headers. And if they do the tubes all have different geometry, so one equal length header brand might differ from the next. But good to know their is a tight fit with the URDs, ill try to mention that down the road if anyone asks.

I know for a fact that Gibson and JBA headers don't interfere with installation of the motor mounts.

XPOTRPR thanks for the good review and glad you are able to drive your truck to the fullest extent again!

@Bonzen Do you have any plans to make a 2.7L solid mount? I am foaming at the mouth to get one for my truck which I am not having much success at. If I can be of any assistance in getting them to be a reality let me know.

It was more so the headers causing interference with the starter going in/out. Once the headers were out of the way, then the motor mounts went in.. Then the headers.. then when the new starter went to get installed.. the clearance issues came back up.. and they ground down just a small section on the mount.. just enough to wiggle the
    starter into place.

Definitely no regrets and still worth it all. Thanks again!

I don't know if these are considered equal length or not, but this is what the Doug Thorley's look like.

The long tubes that eliminate the pre-cats, and the short tubes for welding in your pre-cats.

Obviously just part picture isn't going to help much with speculating clearances though.

    Yikes.
    m1MZmpoS78A9sphZNv6LPzvIv5o9O5pQQO1KM8KlgyM.jpg

Still the DT's free up a surprising amount of power and really let the 4.0 breathe. They seem to scavenge pretty well even if they're not equal length they're still a marked improvement over the stock manifolds to be sure. I can only imagine an even greater improvement on a FI engine.

I got too good a deal on my DT's to refuse, plus those URD's just looked like they took up too much space and obscured more than I wanted to deal with, aside from their fair but high price though they are probably the best.

When you get to that point you're paying significantly more for marginal gains but when seconds count and you got the budget then right on!

    Are they Ti or SS?

And your URD's tick? Mine do, I don't hear it most times but they do make more noise in the cab than stock for sure.

well I can confirm I've replaced my starter with the Doug Thorley's installed and it actually made it easier than the OEM manifolds, plenty of clearance to get the starter out. So hopefully based on that glimmer of hope, the motor mounts would not interfere with anything.

You said you went with a larger starter? Is it an OEM cold weather starter or similar? Or just larger due to being aftermarket?
