I think the issue is removing the headers to replace the starter. You don't have remove headers to replace the engine mounts. Is this correct?

Ive put these motor mounts in more than a few tacomas and Ive never had to remove headers/manifolds or the starter to install them.

I do remember when I was designing the motor mounts years ago, that the starter was damn close, so I took that into consideration.

Yes, For my truck Ryan.. it was the Starter not being able to come out due to the headers being in the way. It also emphasized any clearance issues by having the Total Chaos UCA/Coil Bucket gussets. Just no room to unbolt and swing them out of the way. Everything had to come out in order and go back in in order.

Likely going to jump in on this tomorrow for a 4x4 4.0 manual tranny complete package mount kit. Will send a pm once I get my crap figured out with Scott from itronix.
    Thanks for doing this btw!

also, are you still making the entire tranny crossmember for additional cost?

The crossmember was for the 2wd auto trucks only. That project was done because people were telling me their factory cross members were cracking all over from flex. I haven't head of that with the 4wd truck crossmembers though, so its just the actual mount.

Sorry for the late post but I have a 15 taco w/ manual trans and after putting on the solid trans mount, well let's jus say it was much need, engagement into gears is way smoother and I had (not an issue per say) but would get a feeling that every once in a while I would shift gears, their would be that one time I felt my drivesshaft (I guess driveline) would wiggle and now that's gone and I have upgraded to a poly center carrier before the solid trans mount and it helped but this by itself was a big difference... Jus figured I give my 2cents. I also have solid motor mounts and those are great as well

    Got it!

how much for the package provided the following details, and what’s the ballpark lead time? And how do I pay?

I don’t mind paying the delta to get things shipped to hawaii (not fair to pull the “well you said it was free shipping in post 58” card if I live in the middle of an ocean!)

will also need tips on how one goes about replacing an engine mount without damaging the earlpan. :p

    Thanks!

Next paycheck I am getting in on this if possible @Bonzen . I don’t have Instagram so will have to do it through here. I don’t mind the lag time. I have a 2012 MT 4x4. I’m hopeful this will eliminate a lot of the play when shifting and accelerating.

Toyota finally shipped me the OE brackets I need to build the 2nd half of the group buy orders:thumbsup:

The whole motor mount kit for the 4.0V6 is custom laser cut parts, except the passenger side 4 bolt engine bracket and I heavily modify it /gusset it when building the kits. This is due to the bolt hole flanges being on different planes and therefore would require a re-design and multiple sheet metal breaks if I were to build that piece custom. Aka more cost to the customer.

I buy these new from Toyota to keep up with demand but can also use cores from customers when installing my new mounts. Core exchanges are common in the automotive industry. So save your passenger side engine block bracket when you do the motor mount swap, I'll buy it off you. Send me a DM for more info.

Oh and fyi, the bottom 6 brackets are pass side 4.0
    Top 6 brackets are 3.4

does anyone have an install DIY

    edit: found my answer
    starter has to come out

trying to figure out if the tabs need to be re-used or not
found this pic online of another guy's old set, you can see one of the tabs at the bottom middle. It's a small separate piece that bolts (12mm?) onto the mount and probably hangs down. To be removed to make more room for swinging wrenches around in there.
Not sure if they should be re-used or not. I don't even know which way they go/orientation.
Looks like it could be a tiny shield of some sort, or a safety malfunction bracket for protection. Which would make no sense because I don't think Toyota cared about such backup plans considering they designed a stock mounting system that puts holes in your frame

Its been about 7 years since I installed the 4.0 kit on a 2nd Gen Tacoma so I don't remember much about that little tab, and I haven't heard anything about it from customers before this post.

I could be forgetting something, so someone that has installed these recently chime in if possible. I will say that the OEM motor mount from the block brackets to the frame perch brackets are what the Solid Offroad mounts replace. Nothing else. So if that tab(s) is in between the stock motor mount and the frame perch plate, it may need to be left in place in order to keep the over all dimensions exact when swapping the mounts.

I do remember very clearly that the starter does not need to be removed to bolt the new mounts in. I remember specifically designing them to not interfere with the starter.

The hardest part of the install from what I remember, was on the driver side due to a wire harness that is kinda right in the way of the mount.
