if I could caution anyone on what I wish I did

use loctite. Blue or orange. Don’t know about red. Maybe red could be used given it might be unlockable much later if needed by simply heating with a torch to break the bond.

get it tight, or torque it. And recheck it once later.

I had a bolt fall out. Replaced it. My fault because I didn’t do any of that.

 

Red is usually fine if you don’t use too much in my experience. It doesn’t need a whole lot. Blue you can be a little more generous with

Red for frame perch plate bolts & iron engine blocks, and blue for aluminum engine blocks.

Is any Loctite needed for the transmission mounts?

 

Id recommend the blue. Back in the day, my trans mount bolts used to get loose and I actually lost one during an off road weekend. This was on the first prototype 3.4 manual trans 4wd mount. Once I blue loctite'd them, never had a problem ever again.
