I currently have a 2008 single cab Tacoma 2.7 5 speed manual 4x4 factory (4:10) gears i wanna regear to a 4:88 and possibly add limited slip, but I have heard that the factory 4:10 carrier's cannot be regeared to anything and to save a few bucks it would be cheaper to buy the ring and pinion and have it setup vs buying the assembled 3rd member can it be done swapping the gears?

im aware the 3rd member size is 8.4 would any other 3rd members such as the 8inc rear or the 7.5 front bolt to the 2nd gen?

    here’s my truck so far….
