2nd Gen 4x4 35s 3" Lift w/o BODY LIFT

With the rear, does it tie into the stock bumper or should I be planning on having to get a rear bumper that's wider as well?

So I've been lagging on getting my fender flares done but finally trimmed the rear flares. I will be doing the rear how I did the front by using 3m adhesive to reattach the cut off inner piece to have more of the factory look. Here is my dilemma, I took 2" out of the front flares the entire radius of the flare since that seems to be the minimum clearance for 35's. The rear really doesn't "need" to be cut to clearanced. If anything, it would be the rear part of the flare a little. So I cut 2" from the rear and less on top and in front. I didn't want to cut 2" all around to avoid having a massive wheel well opening.

Looking at it now, I think it looks alright but seeing as the front flares are thinner than the rear, I don't want it to not look proportionate. In factory form the rears are thicker than the fronts anyways. Before I cut the metal I want to make sure the flares are good so I cut enough metal. Having the metal under makes it a little difficult to visualize it. If anything I'd take another 1/4"-3/8" off the top and front to make then more proportionate to the front flare. Once they are good I can continue and adhere the cut inner piece to make it look factory like the fronts.

I'd like your opinions. What do you guys think? I know I can be pretty anal about stuff and that it's more work than most would be willing to do, and that fiancé with me. I would like a few opinions on how they look and/or how they are shaped and if they should be done a bit different. I've asked a few friends (not really automotive people) and have gotten different answers. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: the bottom rear will soon be cut for a high clearance rear at the body line.

 

I think those look good like that. Any difference is minimal and i like the proportions anyway

 

That looks clean. How did you trace the outline? Or was it free hand?

Like you, I have a relentless HC rear that should be getting to me soon. I'll be cutting off a bit of the bumper to line up with the trimmed fenders. I have no problem hacking away at the truck. I just don't want it to be one of those small things I didn't do while I was at it then have it bug the hell out of me down the line.

Edit: did you use that auto edge trim stuff?

 

He didn't do it, Craig homertaco did and it was a complete guess and didn't have the truck to reference from. Just happened to work out perfectly lol. Yes he has door edge trim on the fender and flare.

 

I will just cut the bedside as is then take another look at it. It should give me a better visual. Thanks for the responses.

FWIW I knew how the rear Relentless HC bumper sat in relation to the fender wells on the truck - I did help install the thing.

I didn't take any out of the rear hardly myself since the Brute Force has bedside protection also. My 35's don't come close since I have some long bump stops and I just took my time going from 2" to 1/4 back in the rear. Kinda like the front since I didn't need to cut any out of my pelfrey either. Just like a faded haircut...No lines and make it look good!

 

That trucks looks mean af. Makes me want a dorkel even more

 

Phil, I like how yours turned out. The proportionality looks good front and rear. That's what I'm hoping to attain and is the main concern with mine.

Craig, I was going to wait till the bumper came in to start trimming the fenders but the wait has gone a bit long so the rear needed to get done to match the front. I got tired of rolling around with only the fronts on. I praise you for the work you do on the flares. It's very time consuming to make them look factory and good above that.

Last weekend at pisbro, rubbing a lot at full stuff. Shined up the inner fenderwells.





But the 35's fit the truck so well...

 

I may go the same route with my flares. I have another set put aside for that purpose.

 

funny thing is today I went to get an alignment after replacing a axle ( torn cv boot ). The guys told me to raise my truck another 1/2" and it'll be put into spec. They lifted the front up and we watched all the numbers go into spec. So guess I'll be doing that tomorrow. Good thing the shop has a 6 month warranty!

 

Who's running stock bumper with 35's? Noticed most of you guys have aftermarket bumpers but still want to take 2" off everything and keep it stock. Also, will 4.88 swap out front and rear or do I need to do anything else?
