    It's been done. Apparently Artcic trucks cuts the frame and moves the entire drivetrain forward a few inches then welds it back together. Which might still be cheaper than your average LT kit....if you don't ruin the truck.


    Gotta have some balls and confidence to try it though

    I have 33" Toyo AT2's and they've been great so far. Really quiet on pavement and hasn't failed me yet in the mild-to-moderate wheeling I've been doing. I've never lost grip in wet weather either. Overall, I think they're pretty great

    I wasn't referring to just fitting the tire under the truck. That was directed towards the drive train components. Front diff, axles, tie rods, steering rack, hubs, studs ....... Even if those weren't issues, seeing as the lowest gear set they make for the 8" front is 5.29s you would think that should "work" for power (although it would suck) but you would be breaking rings constantly because of them being weaker and on big tires. You got any other info on the arctic trucks cause I just can't see how they run 40s on stock Toyota diffs/axles.

    allpro long travel, shackle flip with ome dakars, cruisin offroad bumpers and sliders, 4.88 gears with arb's front and rear, budbuilt skids.
    they only drive on snow and ice, so the drive train doesn't take a whole lot of stress.

    They don't list it on there mods. I've found specs before. The rear diff is upgraded, but I haven't seen anything about the front

    Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
    The arctic trucks builds are not all that strong. They're mostly used for putting around in the snow so they don't need to take much of a beating. I think they change the gearing and add a locker, but otherwise the drivetrain is pretty much the same. Pretty sure they use stock (although relocated) suspension components as well (spindles, etc).

    Hmmmmmm I'm curious now though. They are huge 40s at that. Says on their website that they are reliable on the street as well. Ain't no stock 2nd gen drivetrain reliable on the street with the stuff done to those trucks. Think of all the weight added to it. It's easily the weight of a truck that needs d60s.

    I've read that it's common there to take the stock Tacoma rear axle, replace the center with a 9.5 and reuse the Tacoma tubes and outers. Kinda like it should have been from the factory I guess. I wonder if that's what they're doing for the rear

    Looked in the video that they might have done something along those lines. They definitely did a lot of cutting and gluing all over that housing.

    Took the flares off tonight and pulled out all the broken clips. Washed the paint underneath that hasn't been washed in 9 years lol. I'm going to cut 4" out of the fender but only 2" out of the flares, That way when I jump up to 35s I only need to trim then flares. Thanks @RockyMtnTRD for the clips! Gotta love our TW community :cheers:
