They seem like they beat on them pretty hard. I remember watching the Top Gear episode where they went to the North Pole in them. I realise the terrain is nowhere close to what we're used to, but it seemed like they took a pretty good beating none the less.

they 3-link the rear with what appears to be a new axle.

front end is essentially all stock, with what is essentially a glorified OME lift.

    Hilux front end they did.
you can see in this picture, where they cut of the front cross-member, and welded in an extension. essentially a non bolt-on drop bracket lift.

The truck that they built to make the record breaking run actually tore a lower control arm apart during a practice run. they did not report ant ring and pinion or CV axle issues however.

Is it even long traveled up front? Looks like a stock LCA

Holy shit!! That's a testament to how strong Toyota's OEM parts are. That or they're lucky as hell.

Seems like the only reason they 3 link the rear is to run coils for the weight. It def isn't for suspension travel numbers

wonder if they just took a land cruiser rear axle which would have been setup for a linked setup already...larger ring gear as well

I'm going to make the jump to 35's but had a question: With 285's I currently have a little over an inch from the widest part of the tire to the spindle. Do you think the 35" tire will somehow take up that inch and rub the spindle? If so I was going to buy 3/4" wheel spacers to clear it. I really wanted to fit the 35's without it though.

I love that truck! Keep in mind that it was built specifically for a world record run though. from their website, the AT38 (Tacoma on 38's) comes in two varieties. The base doesn't mention anything for rear suspension or axle other than 4.88's and the "heavy duty" version mentions conversion to coil springs as well. I would think they'd probably advertise something like a bigger, stronger, rear axle if they specifically mention "wheel alignment". http://www.arctictrucks.com/Pages/1326

They are a tad less than 4.5". Thanks, I found n0rths build where he fit this same wheel and tire combo on his truck. Looks like it cleared but rubbed the frame alittle at full lock.

Why are you going to cut so much of the fenders? 2" should suffice.

I've got 3 1/2" cut out of my rear and putting the flares back on looks completely pointless. It's pretty thin up at the top
