I thought the bolts were fake and just for looks just like all the fake wheels with them. They don't actually hold the flare on, which would be nice

 I looked it up and edited my post, but apparently not fast enough.

Yup, they're right around the $550 mark. I can see why you wouldn't want to buy them just to cut them up.

Pretty sure the bolts are through the fender. It's too bad the holes in the fender aren't evenly spaced. I would think that a few of the holes will line up, but drilling the fender will have to happen.

I guess if you're willing to hack 2-3" out of the fender you won't mind drilling a few more holes. :D

Nope the bolts are cosmetic only. The OE style clips are the way to go, I'm not sure why everyone complains about them...it is only because they rip them off like Hulk from the front instead of removing them properly by pinching the clips from back.

Well a lot of the times rocks, trees, and angry homeless men rip them off from the front messing up the clip holders:(

2 bags of those clips will run 30$ if you know someone at the dealer. Clips do break, mine broke when the fender on my last truck was hit by a flying broom at 75mph on the freeway.
I agree that the bushwhackers style with the bolt is ugly personally. The flares on everything before the front end redesign were just poor cause the lines under them are way sexy. I'm better with my 15 in how they seemed to tie them into the bumper better.

Curious to see what you guys come up with. I know @AaronArf fenders turned out pretty good after 4" snipped. It could also br the Rad red or it's the +2 kit that helps that opinion along :)

Yeah that +2 kit on @AaronArf truck looks bad as hell. That wide front stance just sets it off.

i turned those fake bolts into real bolts on mine...

36 button head bolts, 72 nuts, 36 nylon washers, 36 flat washer and 36 lock washers

nut and nylon washer is used as a spacer then washer, lock and nut on the inside of the fender...

only had to drill one hole on each side in the front...was able to line up all other holes to pre-existing holes on the fender

That's interesting that you were able to utilize most of the factory fender holes. That would certainly make life easier. I have found a few companies that are making the pocket style flares. Now I have to convince one of them to cut 2-3" out of the side, which will mean creating new molds.

Do what I did but make the flares have recessed holes to look like bushwackers and let those bolts go into the clip holes in the fender

It would be easy if you have the machinery to make them. I'd be down for a set if they look good

The threading on this bolts was perfect for the holes and actually threaded right into the hole with no need for a nut on the inside. I've tugged and pushed and shaken the shit out of them and the don't budge that way

i was pleasantly surprised to see so many match up...made the install much easier than i was planning..

used a buddy's electric snips which cut through the plastic with ease..then finished off with some edge trim

Yup this is great. But creating new molds one time will make them so much $$$ and save us a lot of time and frustration....now if they can just keep the price down:)

The problem is that the true initial cost of molds for plastics, carbon or fiberglass for someone starting from scratch can be cost prohibitive like $10k and then they may require order qty's of 100 + so it is a steep investment to jump into. Even assuming a keystone margin ( 100% mark up ) you might make $250 per set sold at $500 retail cost. $10k divided by $250 = you would have to sell 40 sets just to cover your cost of initial mold set up. Just purchasing 100 sets at $250 = $25,000 so the rabbit hole just keeps going deeper...you have to sell those 100 sets to cover the $25k and then your right side up again and actually making money...the plight of the small business / inventor in modern America...

There was a thread a while ago about a guy that approached bushwacker about doing a cut out fender flare and he posted their response which was something to the effect of " not enough potential sales to make it worth our while "
