4.25 backspacing is just about right to clear the UCA. i have 4.5 BS, and rubbed the UCA. Since adding a 1/4" spacer, effectively making it 4.25" BS, I clear the UCA now, without pushing it into the firewall or cab mount. Still rub the frame, but it's in a very smooth spot, so no big deal there at full lock.

The new SCS wheels with 4.30" BS are looking better and better for when I jump up to 315's.

Madtoy I agree with you. Around 4.3BS was almost perfect for 35s. And minor rub on frame is on smooth area so I am also not too concerned about it.

Ckeene I am running the Stealth 6 wheels. They're an awesome wheel and Vin is great to deal with. I think they have the perfect BS for 35s and give also give the truck a good stance/look.

Yep. I barely rub right now I would really like to not touch at all. I'll get the spacers and put them on and see how it works. If no problems than that's great. If It puts me into my firewall then I'll pull them off. I will just need to play with it a little bit.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
Tires get here Monday. Decided on the Duratracs...I do a lot of highway miles and this is my DD. The KM2s weren't a great choice for my DD, they did well but there are other tires out there that fit the bill for me and offer more for the 90% of my driving while still working offroad. We shall see how they hold up as far as the sidewall issues people report...couldn't bring myself to buy the Hankooks.

    Step one...spacers...

When I first joined this forum I remember thinking running 285's was crazy because you had to "trim". Then I started off roading and went to Moab where I was the only one on stock tires.

Finally, Got some 285's and wasn't sure if I was going to go any bigger.

Now I find myself 6 months after getting the 285's I am on 35's and wondering why I waited so long! This thread is part of the reason the switch was so easy.

    I see a lot of references toward the 315 size but isn't a 325 closer to a 35"? Am I missing something?

will greatly depend on the tire/rim. even two D rated or two E rated tires may differ. 15 was perfect for my 285s (E), but seems to be a few pounds too high with the 315s (also E). So next i'll try Linwood's 12 pounds. 15-18 is still where i'll stay for high speed though.
