No, gut your inner fender liners first just cut them out with a box knife and you will be able to easily get to the back of all of the clips. You can easily pinch the clips from the back with your bare hands or needle nose pliers and pop them all out without breaking any. When you just rip the flare off you risk damaging the hole in the flare the clips seat into. Mark and cut you flares first, reinstall them with just a couple clips and make a mark on the fender. Then make your line on the fender about 1/4" to 1/2" higher on the fender. This gives you more clearance for the tire to pass the fender in that bottom corner and in her back room for the tire to tuck. You can also use some nice edge trim like the stuff from Trailtoys and it will still be tucked up behind the flare.

Making all of your lines with a compass is the easiest thing to do IMO and you can get a compass for 99 cents in the school supply aisle at any store if you need one.

Yeah because your not folding it on top of the fender well that way, when you go to the outer edge your folding it into an open area so you can get it a lot flatter. It's a bitch, use at least a 5 lb sledge and work the whole thing at the same time. It will fight back, you'll need to call it a few names but eventually it will give in

 

Some people cut slices in it to help it give, not sure if that's necessary.

 

I did mine without slicing it. I figured it might give water a way to leak in.
