For purely marketing reasons, what is the reason for this mod? To save money, you think the stock fender looks the best, or another reason? Please explain.

Turn 315s, stuff them and crank the wheel. You won't have fender flares anymore and your fenders will be looking pretty sweet too.

    In my case... Eventually,
Its to stuff 35's with no hesitation and also to save money. Why buy fiberglass fenders when, chances are, while on the trails your going to take a chunk out of it. May as well stay with a lower profile while saving money... Thats my thought lol. And also im saving my truck while im cutting the fenders... I found some cancer on the panel the other day so cutting it off seems good idea to me:)

    vvvvv that too

Ok so lots of reasons. I personally would sell my front and rears as a package for 500 bucks then get fiberglass for 500. Then spend my time learning to paint them myself. Or keep them in case I ever want to sell.
But I think it looks cool to use factory pieces modifed it is just a lot of work and scares me much more than cutting for a satoshi.

Also you bump a tree it dents you can pop it out to an extent. Fiberglass you hit a tree it cracks then you start putting patches and shit if there isnt one big crack down the whole thing. Remember crack no good

My buddy had a pretty big bill fixing his fibreglass beside from touching a tree while on the trail. No way would I run fibreglass on wooded trails after seeing that.

A jigsaw worked just fine for me. :D

This is exactly it! Most of the guys putting 35's on (in this thread anyway) are doing it for off roading purposes. Fiberglass fenders don't do well when rubbing or bouncing off trail objects.

    - Clear 35's
    - Cheaper
    - Snorkel (I feel this is necessary once you pull out the liners)
    - Tail Clearance

It's all four corners not just two. The back with get ripped off just as easily as the front. So now it's a lot more than just $500. Plus finding someone local to buy your stock ones, for the amount you want. I know for me that would be a nightmare.

Here is a video of me on just 285s with stock fenders and no flares. You can see how close it comes to hitting in the rear.

    http://youtu.be/CoVRhZbpyOQ

This is with 35's and cut fender/flairs.

Or if you dont do any wheeling it will still suck, they are not mall rated as light poles do the same thing to them as trees. They are great if your running in the desert were its just sand for miles.

Ground clearance, that is the biggie. Long low trucks gut hung up a lot.
With just the little increase from 33's I can now hit this obstacle head on and still come home with a drive shaft.
