i will be graduating soon, and am thinking of trying to trade off my 1st gen, though i love her dearly, its about time for a new truck. i know there are tons of people on here with them, and i know they are great trucks, but i would like to know a few peoples likes/dislikes about them. i would be for sure getting a trd package 4x4 double cab and liftin it a little bit. the one thing i don't like about my 1st gen is at 6' 3" it can get cramped easily.
    Any tips?

I had a 04 first gen before my new 05. I love it so much more! More room, power and little extra features like the plug in outlet in the tailgate area and the compass w/ outside temp display...hope that helps a little :)

It's a lot bigger truck than the first generation. It feels completely different. I actually thought the first gens were a little quicker but the second gens are more comfortable.

Love the truck. Few dislikes are cheap non locking tailgate, Mudflaps too long and stiff, carpet flooring, Lack of solid tie-down points. All there are easily fixed though. Way too many positives to list :)

I am 6'3" 285lbs.... the only probably I have size wise, is my right leg contacts the console. So, I end up driving bow legged (on my right leg) resting on the outside of the console most times, unless I make a concerted effort to straighten it out...but then my leg gets tired. Headroom, shoulder room, seat room...all work for me. I have driven 1st gen. Tacomas before....not comparable... 2nd gen. is midsize, 1st gen is compact.

Go for it you'll love it even more. I have the or package, but if I could do it again I'd go with the sport just so I could have the double cab and the 6' bed

I'm 6"3 and 220lbs (used to be 260), and I have no problem with the room in my truck.

Biggest dislike I have on my Taco is my lack of backseat room, but that would have been avoided if I had gotten a D/C. My access is fine for myself and my fiance but when we take out the whole group room is cramped. I want to ditch the carpet at one point though.

I know where you're comin from . I'm 6'2" at 240lb, and I love my DC. My seat is just about always all the way back and if somone sits behind me they still have enough room. I just wish I has a 6' bed sometimes.
