Seriously thinking about this. The glare is beyond annoying. Also have a spot on my scoop (not the removable piece) that look likes it had tree sap or something that damaged paint through the clear down to the paint. Body shop at local yota stealership said it would require a good repaint at a measly $700 to correct it.This would be a perfect way to hide that paint issue and cut the glare...win-win. I'm digging the red TRD lettering too. Is that something that comes with or did people add that after installing?

Question for those that have installed this already. Im planning on doing a clay bar and wax, should i avoid doing this to the area where the decal will be installed? I presume clay will be ok but not sure about the wax.

Edit: after researching a bit more, seems the popular prep steps are wash, clay, isopropyl alcohol rinse, wipe, let dry and you're good to go.

The red TRD logos are just additional items the seller offers; they only cost an additional $5, and you apply them a day or so after you've done the main piece.

    Exactly!

    LOOKS GREAT VLBTaco!!

Do this in the shade.... Not on a hot hood!!

Spray both areas.... Hood and Rear of the decal.....place on lubed up hood...slide it into position and tack a spot down... Step back and take a look at different angles to make sure it is where you want it, and it is equally centered... start moving the water away from the center of the decal to the edges... step back again and check to make sure it has not moved... keep taking water out and use gently use a microfiber and dry the areas where you have expelled water from under the decal onto the hood.

I USE THE SHINY PART OF THE BACKING SHEET PLACED ON THE DECAL AS NOT TO SCRATCH IT WITH THE PLASTIC SQUEEGEE TO SCRAPE THE WATER OUT

These squeegees work great for applying vinyl decal and window tint and cell phone clear screen protectors etc.... Amazon link

If you need to readjust it after you tacked it down spray again under the vinyl and gently lift up and readjust to your liking.

Easier than i thought it'd be. Had to chase wrinkles where the vinyl bends around the scoop at the sides, but wasn't too bad. Used my son's Dove baby body wash for the soapy water.

I have the gloss black TRDs but not quite sold on the look. I may try to find some in dark green.

Yeah I guess I should have read more here before installing. Ended up tossing $50 in the trash

I thought I followed them ok but should have been in a less windy environment, wet the area more and wetting the backing is a helpful idea before it starts sticking to itself (probably where things went south for me) :boom:,
and an actual squeege is a nice touch that will make things go smoother but not necessary. As all these points were mentioned previously I think maybe just a “refer to thread” in the instructions for those who are wary of installation.

payment sent. Wondering if there's a way to make something for the part right near the cowl that faces the windshield. The long curve at the top of the hood? I get blinded by that if the sun is behind me, if not, I may just plastidip that part. Probably be easier that way.

Came in the mail today, got it on without much trouble using instructions given. Will put Ted logos on in a few days - presume same technique? Also for future washing/waxing - do you all wax this decal as well?

    here’s a pic-

    sweet

    do the logos dry.

the vinyl itself doesn’t require wax. It’s a 7-9 year vinyl as is. You can use a paint sealant but it /may/ add some sheen to it.

Thanks, I definitely would have done that wrong.

Nope, not gonna paint it. Happy with it. Didn't realize the glare was really much of a problem until it was gone. I'll post a pic once I get the TRD logos on.

Also, sounds like commercial car washes are a bad idea.
