If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Yeah, the time-out issue doesn't bug me. I just turn it off and on real quick.

I will need to check the time-out/reverse issue when I get home. From what I've tried, I have to put it in Park first before it will come back on. Maybe I didn't wait long enough after turning the switch off to turn it back on. :notsure:

does this affect the warranty? I want to do a few mods but since this is my first brand new truck I'm worried about warranty issues.

Rear camera anytime switch, 4x4 Illuminated Switch (from rcbs204) , rear view mirror lift bracket (from ImMrYo), 75 cent tailgate anti-theft. Technically not mods but give me a break I'm trying to fill space here... OEM Leather pkg, keyless unlock & ACC chime silence, BakFlip G2, Ultra Gauge EM, WeatherTech floor mats, OEM roof rack
Just don't be in Reverse when you toggle the switch. If you are,the camera won't actually lose power..it just goes from getting power from your switch to the factory supply since you are in Reverse. Hope that makes sense...

Doing a mod does not void the factory warranty so long as the mod does not cause the failure. The burden of proof is on the dealer and factory if they claim a mod caused a failure to occur.

It does, you have to cut the wire and use a SPDT switch. Make sure the common connection is the lead going to your screen or mirror then your 12v to the Normally open and the wire going to the plug to your normally closed terminal on the switch.

I did this mod today, but skipped the switch and wired directly to key-on... you probably know where this is going.

Has the 5 minute timeout for the monitor ever been figured? This thread implies it's a screen saver, but I can't find the discussion anywhere.

I don't want to be reaching for a switch while driving every five minutes... Look: I don't care if my mirror catches fire, I want the damn camera on all the time.

    Any ideas?

^LOL. Not to my knowledge and in my opinion, probably not going to happen. If it's that important to you to have it on all the time, why not invest in a dedicated camera setup and leave the stock one alone?
