I have a 15 AC and I know this has been discussed before but I'm debating on the MX vs CX shells from ARE. The idea of additional head room with the MX is intriguing because I'd like the ability to sleep in the bed but I am also toying with the idea of being able to put a canoe up top on my roof racks and I'm not sure how that would work out with the hump in the back.

I'm also debating on the aesthetic factor, the MX can look goofy at times. Does anyone have any MX vs CX photos on access cabs?

New member to the Tacoma clan and first time post.

I've recently purchased a 2013 Tacoma regular cab and will be making the same decision - also wanting to carry a canoe on top. I'd like the additional headroom / clearance of the MX, which I don't think looks too bad, also just wondering about a solution for the height difference with the cab. Did you arrive at any conclusion or find additional info that might help?

I haven't found anything yet, I'm pretty sure the MX is on my list either way so when I'm ready I'll buy it and figure something out after

I have a Leer MX 180 & love the extra height. You can stand trash cans up to haul to dump, extra head room plus full frame door opens wide to put furniture back there with removing topper.
As far as bridging the gap height difference, I use high density foam blocks on my front Thule setup without issue sorry no pics of that. Walmart, outdoor shops or rig your own blocks that wrap around front load bars.
2 years now rocking the Leer on my 2013. 6 years on the front Thule setup no issues or complaints at all.
