Unfortunately I I don't have any way to pack it. Originally the carrier came in a large cardboard box.

I wouldn't say the packing was bad because it wasn't, but being a large object it poked through the cardboard box and the tabs to mount it in the bedrail COULD have easily been lost, but they were not.
