So...I am too old to squint at that tiny backup image in the rear view mirror.

Can the display be switched from the mirror to the main display screen on the dash?

I suspect it has the full capacity, but I don't want the Toyota dealer to screw me with buying a whole new setup...which I won't do.

At worst, I figure the dash display might have to be switched out...but why? I'll bet it's already wired for the existing camera...just an "option switch" that didn't get turned on or wired????

    Thoughts?

The radio is ready for use with camera. They used the same radio and camera in tundra's and the back up is in the display. Dealership said around 400 in labor pulling dash out to hook up

Hmm. Guess I was wrong. Maybe it's a 2015 model thing?

I swung by Car Toys the other day and was looking for an auto-start and just mentioned to them about something like this.... They had a $25 part for sale that would do it and if you're not super familiar with how to install it, another $125 for install.

They weeee willing to sell me just the wiring to do that alone, so if you go watch some DIY stuff online it's pretty simple to do.

Yes, it is possible. There was some wiring kit that was/is sold on Amazon (can't remember by who or how to find it) that moved the rear camera view from the rear view mirror to the head unit. About 2 years ago I purchased it and had it installed when I had a remote start/alarm system installed. I think I was charged $35.00 for the extra installation. I'm pretty sure I got the info for the kit on this site so, with some further searching on this site, you just might come across it.
