2nd Gen Caps on 3rd Gens?

I'm looking for a used cap and there are TONS of great deals on caps from 2nd gens in my area but nothing for 3rd.

Will a SB cap from a 2nd gen fit on a SB 3rd gen?
Anyone have experience with this?

My apologies if this has already been discussed extensively.
Was actually really surprised that I couldn't find anything on here about it.
Perhaps my "search" skills are just really poor.

Feel free to direct me to an existing thread if I missed it somehow.

 

Won't fit different bed caps and tailgate shape. Sorry

 

No it will not. 3rd gen bedsides sit an inch higher than 2nd gens so the cap would stick up over the cab. Also the tailgate is much different and the window wouldn't close or seal
