So, my old white paint is effed. I decided to coat the fenders. I have used rustoleum bedliner in a rattle can before and am comfortable with it. I found it in TAN on Amazon. I couldn't find a write up on this. Figured you all could use my eff ups for your own sake.
    Here we go...

I'll keep the first post updated for a quick look.

But read through for the step by step of me making a mess with this old beat up truck...

here are the little clips that I broke.
They need to be removed by pinching the tabs from behind on the inside.
However they also hold the wheel well liner in place.
So you can't reach the back
you can see the bolts/holes, pretty straight forward while the flare is off.

once you get the flare off, scrub it with whatever you use to scrub. I use a green scratchy pad and dish soap.
then sand with whatever sand paper you have. It doesn't really matter as this spray is thick and textured.
    then scrub again and dry.

rustoleum truck bed coating. I found it in Tan on Amazon. the auto stores always have it in black

    1. shake the f out of this can. shake it more than you would normal spray paint in a can. Like, shake weight this thing then switch arms and do it again. Personally, I double fist and shook two cans "skiing" LmfAo.

    2. I held the can about 12in back and made medium coats by sweeping back and forth. This stuff sticks to itself really well if you let it dry just a few seconds in between coats.
DO NOT try to make one thick coat.
DO NOT let it dry between coats and sand like you would regular paint (this is textured)
DO KEEP making coats WHILE it is still tacky.
if you get a DRIP, Just smudge the drip in (I fingered it) while it is sticky, then spray again.
Keep shaking this can between coats.

    NCM_0173_zpsbkod3ra6_8b200312d4e7089f516e9f7c508d9a6793707bb4.jpg

I used one whole can per fender. I took maybe 2 minutes to spray the whole can on

Remember- Medium coats and keep adding coats while it is tacky.
The coats will adhere together and when you are done, it will be one layer.

Are you using tapatalk? If so skip to using the mobile version of TW much better to use. @tcBob is working on some upgrades to the photo/video segment. Should help a lot when it goes live.

I don't use Photobucket at all, I couldn't stand using it a few years ago cause it was so slow to load. I can't image how bad it would be now.

Yes, and text them directly to your media page too using Live. Last I heard Bob is working on a better video upload and a multi-picture upload function.

Had to take mine off the 2 weekends ago to pop a dent out...2 of those pieces broke on mine as well, I just used JB Weld for plastic. Worked great.

So again, these are the different fasteners.

I ordered the blue ones, but I really don't like the way the others cant be removed so I think I will find a different system.

you really cant get the black covers underneath out to get to the backs of the fasteners to remove everything properly and if you can reach the backs, you cant manipulate the tabs unless you have tiny hands.

Even the two on the bottom that look like the ones that are removable... STILL HAVE THE ONE WAY TABS (you cant really tell in this pic) and don't come out.

Hey buddy, I seriously do not mean to be rude or troll your thread here but I guarantee someone else will point all of this out maybe not so politely...it is TW after all. All of the problems you are having with disassembly and broken clips etc are honestly just mistakes on your behalf. It is very easy to take apart every one of those parts without breaking any clips if you do it properly and none of the fasteners are " one way ". When properly used all of those clips easily release including the front bumper ones, all of the clips simply have tabs that need to be depressed to release them. When you know the correct order to disassemble the truck in and the correct way to do it it is rather easy and every fastener will be just fine. Next, that bedliner is going to look awful after a few months in the sun, unfortunately that spray can stuff is not too hot. A lot of other folks have learned that lesson the hard way but the good news is a lot of folks have figured out a solution - you to clear coat it with a satin, matte or gloss clear coat to keep it from detereriorating from UV damage. You need to let the bedliner cure for a few days before clear coating though or it will stay soft forever.

    Thanks
I am familiar with the spray I am using.

You are wrong about these tabs.
Perhaps they are different on my 2005.
Also it is 11+ year old plastic, so it is brittle.

But these are definitely not "press the center and pull it out" tabs.

My Suzuki's and Kawasaki's have the easy to use tabs like you are describing.

That is not how these 2005 fenders or bumper are held together.
However that is what I am going to find to put it all back.

    (No offense taken though)

    Not exactly

I'm talking about getting the bottom clips off in order to get the wheel well cover out.

So that you can reach the back of all the clips.
