2nd gen flatbed

Lots of sweet trucks. But, no 2nd Gens. But this one might be a decent place to start, too bad their aren't more pics.

 

Bad news wife said I can build a flatbed or a AR15 not both so I'm building a AR15, flatbed will come later.

I am in the process of finally building my flatbed gona pick up the angle iron next week and start welding sat or so will post pics of the process. I am also parting out my bed if anyone is interested.

So this is my next project for sure. Have been seriously thinking about it for a long time and just got the ok from my fabricator. It will be a summer project so hopefully done in a couple months or so. The flatbed will be offroad crawler style - high clearance/chopped frame. I have a bunch of pics as examples but here are a few just to give you somewhat of an idea of what I'm looking to do something like even though many of these are very different in many aspects. I will post more potential pics later once I have more time and get your guy's opinions.

I just got back from Perth, Australia where flatbeds are very popular. Try searching for Toyota "trays" which is the Aussie term for flatbed.

 

They're called tray backs. You can actually buy these from the Toyota dealer. Believe it or not there is someone in the US that sells them (not the Toyota brand though).

 

I'm in love with this truck. Man, I want a dedicated trail rig!

and Steven, do you see any of these that you like and think you could fab up nicley - were any of these something you had in mind?

 

I'm thinking a cross between those three. The 3rd one with the green pickup is pretty cool. the only reason it is so small is because he has coils and could chop the bed back further because of no shackle hangers.

 

maybe even add this one to the hybrid: I like it because there is material below the bottom of the bed near the cab that acts as coverage for the undercarriage - makes it look a little cleaner maybe. Plus, I think everything about it is almost perfect too


that green one looks a little too complex but maybe we can work with it

Pretty sick. I think it would look better with the shorter cab though. Either way that is a sick truck. Love the bed
