Cool. I'll be out of town for almost 2 weeks but I can come over and meet up after then so we can throw ideas around more with the truck actually there.

I think this will be a relatively simple project in some regards. I have faith in your skills!

And when we get the bed off of there, I'm going to paint the axle and other shit down there to make it look super clean. I also want to paint the exhaust stuff/muffler - will the hi-temp paint work for that? - it says it's good for up to 1,000 degrees.

    Can't wait!

Sounds good. Gonna sell the bed and bumper?

Good idea on painting shit, don't know about the high temp paint. I have used some sort of high temp shit on wood stoves and it holds up fine. Might talk to someone at a muffler shop.

Yup sell both. At first I was thinking about incorporating my rear bumper but it may not look good/work good.

Only way we could make it work would be to chop the shit out of it. You're probably best off selling it

Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have one of these built up? Even a very rough ballpark estimate would be better than nothing.

Steven, what were you thinking it would all cost when said and done? A rough price estimate or range would be helpful just so I have an idea. I know it will depend on how exactly we want to do it, that's why I'm looking just for a very rough estimate. If you feel more comfortable PM'ing me or texting me, that's fine too.

I just want to have SOMEWHAT of an idea of what I should expect this to cost me.

    Thanks

Ya I think not incorporating it is the best idea for sure for multiple reasons. Plus selling it will give me some extra cash... I mean, give YOU some extra cash :)

at first I thought this would be stupid, like some sort of gardening truck...

but then I saw that it's purpose is for off roaring, so then I got interested... spent the day thinking about what might look cool.. I'm gonna do some sketches and post em on here just for the heck of it.. anything I draw will probably be too complicated for a fabrication company though.. still sounds fun! Good luck!

looking forward to the sketches. pics for ideas are on page 2 if you havent seen them already. they make some pretty complicated designs... I dont think anything will be too complicated for a fab company, but I'm looking for something relatively simple. Here are a couple that are "complicated" if this is what you're thinking of, but im not looking to do anything like this

Do you want to do diamond plate on the bed itself or just on the outside as a skin? That will be the most expensive part is diamond plate. We could probably cut costs a little by using plain flat steel in the bed. Up to you. I will try an talk to gerlinger steel and industrial metals tomorrow and get some quotes on prices.

Oh and I will look for light combos so we can keep you legal. Maybe some bad ass mud flaps to;)

Sell that shit! haha Lonnie just told me that elite has stopped making stuff so relentless will probably have a crazy long wait, might be the perfect time to get rid of it to someone who doesn't want to wait 3 months for a rear bumper

I meant complicated more in that I usually sketch things with body panels (Im on my way to being an auto designer, not a fabricator) so I usually don't sketching things with steel structures or diamond plate, but I'll give it a try. I'm gonna start now, may be don't in a little while, or maybe tomorrow sometime.

Plain flat steel would probably be fine for the bed. Do they come in sheets? How thick you thinking? - probably doesnt need to be too thick plus I would like to keep the weight down. And I dont plan on having too much skin on the outside anyways - so we can use diamond plate where needed or plain flat steel may actually work fine especially since there isn't goint to be too much of it. Thanks for looking into quotes in the meantime.

light combos is also something ive been thinkin of and needing to look into more also but havent done so yet. And trucker-girl mudflaps would be a nice addition

the rear bumper will be for sale

    .
What would look proportional to me would be a single cab on a doublecab chassis, but that critter doesn't exist, an AC would probably look ok

Gerlinger sells full sheets of 8'x4' and also partials of 2'x4'. We could probably go with 1 or two partial sheets of diamond for the outside. I'm really not sure how thick yet. maybe for the outer which can get trail rash 3/16" but then I was thinking 1/8" would work for the bed if we have a decent amount of crossmembers. I got to look into that more and talk to Jeff
