I'm referring to the DMZ fab kit, the kit in post 1 appears to be discontinued.

And being able to access the inside of the frame rail is a plus too.

    Sure but it’s minimal.

I got he dimples kit but it was mostly because I wanted it. There’s not a lot of practicality in this application, IMO.

Regardless, buy what you want. I spent the extra $25 because I can.

"We can also add dimple die treatment to the holes in the plates for added strength and visual effect"

Are you referring to the dimples in general? Their is a good deal more rigidity in these plates after they have been dimpled then before they are dimpled. How much of that gets translated to strength once installed that’s up for debate. But if you try to twist an undimpled plate and then try to twist a dimpled one, their is a noticeable difference.

I’ve always dimpled the plates myself since Tim didn’t offer dimpling, but at $25 you’d be silly not to have him do it. $25 covers less than 15 minutes of labor at most shops.

I will say, there is something very satisfying about dimpling holes yourself though. Especially when I don't have to do any of the cutting before hand

I've got a set of Swag Offroad's dimple dies that don't get used enough.

I guess once you’ve worn your first set of dimple dies out it loses it glamor.

Glad you can read a website. You should try looking up the definition of "marketing."

No, for this specific application. I'm not saying dimples don't serve their purpose. That's been proven and well known knowledge. I'm more questioning how much of that translates to strength in this application, as you stated.

As you stated, for the price, I'm all about it.

If you’re gusseting to stop frame twist, the dimples will add a good amount of strength. If you’re gusseting to stop the frame rails from bending upwards, the dimples don’t add a ton of strength.

But if you aren’t gonna dimple plates I’d want them without holes. The plates with just the holes, no dimples is weaker than a solid piece of plate. The plates with dimpled holes are as strong or stronger than solid plates would be.

Buy the precut plates if they are available. I purchased the ones from the OP and my welder said they fit perfectly and saved him a lot of time. He could have made the same plates, but it would have cost a lot more for his time. Even if you can cut your own plates, buying precuts ones is a no brainer especially from a shop like DMZ.

I see what you're saying. The goal is to minimize the total movement in the frame but is frame twisting a concern if you have a cross member?

It would really depend on how the crossmember is mounted. Most people mount them the quick easy way, but their strength will be very dependent on the strength of the frame gusset plates. There are other ways they can be mounted which would strengthen the frame, reinforcement plates, and the crossmember all at the same time.
