There was no need for the black wires or the Male side plug. Toyota and Joying didn’t have any wires in either plug. I did it to allow more for more flexibility and for it to take up less space in back. Not a whole lot of room behind the stereo.

Red, Ground and Video. If you yank out one of the pins you can use it to release the rest. I should be home this weekend and can take a photo of the final product for you.

Here ya go. I attached how I wired it and also how you keep the Stock USB port. Was able to get the subwoofer working. I had wired the RCA to the Video Inlet and not the Sub Outlet.

Still happy with this head unit? About to pull the trigger on something and this one looks the best of the touch screens out there. I don't have steering wheel controls so the knobs are a must.

I'd say do it. Joying is also the go to aftermarket stock compatible head unit for my E46 M3. Wish I did it originally instead of the Frankenstein project I tried to do

Curious how long it takes to get if ordered from Joying direct

Took them about a week to get it to me. I am on a island in Alaska so YMMV.

No regrets here. Literally plug and play including faceplate because it’s built in and a part of it. Harness is too easy. It was almost too easy, that I thought I did something wrong. The hardest part is learning the settings on the radio.

Anyone else having an issue where the Android Auto dies every couple hours?

It's not bump related, because if i go back to the Home Screen, then re-enter Car Link, it usually restarts. It's super weird.

Overall i'm fairly happy. I bought the backup Cam but didn't have a clean way to install it without the tailgate hitting, so thats a bummer, but otherwise for the price it's been awesome. Had a bunch of compliments on it at Overland Expo East last weekend.

I dont use Android Auto but have you updated the Carlink App lately. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-joying-head-unit-thread.706997/page-11#post-26257583

Might be able to help you and will allow you to go wireless.

Question. Is anyone running a T-mobile sim card in their joying? I read some reviews online but no definite answer.

Joying update, ordered last Weds and tracking still shows in Hong Kong. Guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

Having ordered many things from China, the provided tracking number may not even be up to date. Lots of times it will transfer the tracking number over to the stateside carrier, usually USPS, and the original tracking link will stop updating.

Well, I've had my head unit (8" with knobs) installed for about three days now and I'm loving it so far.

    Thoughts:

-the size and look is awesome, looks better than stock and glad I have a volume knob. Love that's it's an android unit.

-steering wheel controls (2015 taco) only let you map a certain amount of functions. Some buttons now have no function but the necessities of skip/prior track, mute, volume, and phone functions all seem to work. Voice search to Google assistant works but haven't tried using it much.

-wireless android auto has worked well a couple times and been stuck trying to pair up a couple times. I'm sure this will get better with future updates. It works very nicely when it is linked up.

-using Nova launcher gives the homscreen a cleaner look and more customization.

-it bugs me that the music player on the home screen shows a picture of the band 'the police' instead of band artwork. Also the music button on the side can't be mapped to a different audio player (yet). The search function of said music player isn't the greatest and I really like using usb sticks to play music.

-as others said, it sounds way better than the stock head unit. I have stock speakers with some vibration dampening in the doors.

-wired a backup camera anytime button and it's awesome

-put a modified duel input usb port (stock one port was charge only) in and both go to head unit. Also broke off the led light because I found it annoying.
