I'm undecided between that same 10.1 model or the 11.6. The bezel looks smaller around the 11.6 and the 8GB is tempting but the 10.1 looks a bit more 'factory'. I'm curious if the 10.1 or 11.6 can be mounted a little higher by installing the four clips lower on the back of the screen... Anybody?

Can't help with the front camera but keep us posted on what you find because it's something I'd like to do eventually. RE: factory backup camera - shouldn't be necessary to run a new camera. There was something on page 8 of this thread and a YT vid that might help ya https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-joying-head-unit-thread.706997/page-8#post-25764589 - https://youtu.be/_aULuiHvdjc

Also if anybody is interested, Steering wheel controls are nice and all but I will eventually get one of these rotary knob add-ons for the cup holder closest to the armrest https://m.aliexpress.com/i/2251832772540239.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt - Joying makes something similar so it'll likely come down to looks. Anybody tried something similar? Does it interfere with existing SWCs?

I had one of those dials, sent it back immediately. I was hoping it would be like a regular analog stereo dial, but you can't really move it up and down quickly. It still has to register one click at a time, didn't feel any better than the touchscreen. If you move it too fast it won't capture all the clicks.

I attached a picture of my current setup which I am very happy with

    That’s a nice setup for pre-FLs.

Volume skipping was assumed without smoothing (essentially coding a specific time delay) but for ~$20, installed in no time, it’s something and it’s better than spending weeks piecing together something with an Arduino. Or maybe I buy two and mod the second with an Arduino. Probably more work than I want to invest.

I can help with this. I have/had a 2015 Entune non jbl for reference. The backup camera image was previously viewed in the dash for me, and not into the rearview mirror.

Joying does not make use of 24 pin harness, which contains your backup camera video feed. Joying confirmed that OEM backup camera for my year cannot be retained.

That said, in the 24 pin harness from your truck, there is a video signal positive, video signal/sheath ground, a 6v positive camera positive and a camera ground (4 wires total). Theres a harness https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ET10WX0 that connects to your factory 24 pin harness and breaks out the video connection via a yellow RCA plug. That yellow plug goes into the "backup camera input" on the Joying.

You will then have to add power since your old radio used to supply the power via the connection to the factory radio which will no longer be there. That factory harness link has a 6v positive wire (red) and ground wire (black) coming out of it. You'll connect the red wire to 12V accessory power from the Joying head unit (red wire) via a 12v to 6v step down converter (Amazon). Black goes to ground. The OEM camera used 6v which is why you need the converter.

The last step would be you need to connect the "back" trigger wire (orange wire) on the Joying to your reverse signal. The reverse signal comes from pin 2 on the 28 pin harness from the factory. (Joying doesn't use this pin but does use the 28 pin harness connection). If you connect the reverse signal to the "back" wire on the Joying head unit, you should be able to view your OEM camera. I've also seen others find a reverse signal under the driver side fuse box, but this didn't apply to my 2015 since reverse was in the harness already.

Then you can add a separate front camera by just buying any "AHD" camera or regular backup camera (natika is nice) with a yellow plug rca connector and connect it to the remaining rca yellow RCA input on the back of the Joying head unit. Then on the Joying head unit, go into settings/factory settings, code is 3368, scroll down to front camera and enable it. You should then be able.to access the front camera app in your app list on the Joying.

I also got the anytime front and back camera with switch working through alot of trial and error and finally texting with the anytimebackup camera owner, Brian. I'll post my diagram and instructions in the next few days. Similar steps to above, but orange wire from the 28 pin override harness goes to reverse, and red wire from 28 pin override harness goes to 12v accessory.

Tldr; Joying doesn't make use of OEM backup camera and says it won't work. It can actually work, but you have to give the camera power and let the Joying unit know when the truck is in reverse. I only know this to be true for my 2015.

I’m about to pull the trigger on the 9” with the volume knob. Does anyone know if there is a port for a Sirius XM receiver to plug into?

I do not have a Sirius receiver, but recall something about the RCA in jack for a speaker??? Here's a picture of the back of one of their head units. Hopefully it will give you an idea.
Disregard the red square and additional USB connection. It was for a question on USB connections and the additional one (drawn in) that was on my unit.

BTW- Joying has pretty good customer service. Email them with proof of purchase along with your question and they'll get back to you by the next morning. Time difference...

That is the best breakdown of this I've seen. Thank you.

Can anyone with the 1920x1200 10.1” or 11.6” confirm the screen can be installed higher?

Thanks, that pretty much seals the deal for me. Would love to see a pic of you have one handy. Also curious how much the screen tilts back.

Hey guys, could use some help with my Joying. I'll start by saying this is not installed in my Taco, but there seem to be a lot of smart people in this thread. And, as it's been pointed out, the silver box behind the screen is basically the same across their line up.
for what it's worth, this one is installed in my mk6 GTi.

OK, so everything seems to be going great except I can't figure out how to:
    • Change from metric to imperial units. IE mph or Fahrenheit. Feel like I've searched every menu 4x, but can't find the setting
    • Get Torque Pro to sync with the OBD2 dongle

    Thanks!

I could never get torque pro to sync with their dongle either. Tbf they use a SUPER CHEAP dongle and it cause my truck to throw codes.

Might have to use the passcodes found in this thread to access the locked menu settings for C to F

I did find the code to unlock the 'factory' menus, 3368. But there doesn't seem to be a setting for C to F or kph to mph

Anyone know if it's possible to source just the bezel for a 9" screen somewhere? I'm tempted to try a pioneer but it seems the larger than double din bezel options are only sold bundled with a specific head unit?

YES! Shoot the Joying support an email. My bezel had a broken connector piece on the backside and they sent me a new Bezel only....or I could sell you my extra one for....$20 + shipping? It still worked fine with 4 of the 5 backside connectors

Do you know if there is a way to wire in a back up camera into the Joying HU that doesn't turn on in reverse, but can instead just be turned on whenever I want?
My truck is a 2013 so it has the tiny camera in the mirror. I want to just ditch the OEM camera altogether and install an aftermarket camera with better resolution that I can just turn on and off whenever I want to.

Anyone else, feel free to chime in as well!

‘Don’t use the backup trigger. Wire to switched 12v (assuming the new camera is 12 v)

    Noice! Which model?

After making cardboard templates for the 10.1 and 11.6, I decided to go with the 11.6. there wasn’t much difference in total width and if 270mm is accurate, it should sit nicely between the vents with ~3/8 - 1/2 inch clearance to the vent openings. once the silver vent bezel is wrapped/painted piano black, it should look really nice.

Also added the OBD2 transmitter but after seeing the comment by @scootter82 I might cancel the transmitter and find a compatible unit of higher quality. suggestions welcome.

Third item on the order is their cup holder style USWC. it should look good in the cup holder closest to the armrest and i prefer that location for tactile controls. BUT….will the buttons on the USWC conflict with the steering wheel’s buttons? can both be used for the same functions or is it one or the other?
