2nd gen Joying Head Unit Thread

4 is sufficient. Lots of folks are running 4gigs with no complaints. All other things being equal, go with 8… but you will be fine if 4 is the only option.

I had a question regarding CarPlay maps. My fiancée has a brand new Corolla Cross and the CarPlay maps look and operate MUCH differently. It was the first time seeing individual lanes on a highway and I thought that was nice. Is the CarPlay maps UI stored on the iPhone or the JHU (assuming the latter), and can it be updated?

Thanks for the reply. I checked my harness the next day and saw a loose connection. Got that squared away and it's been right as rain since.

 

It’s a Android tablet, it depends on how you use it.

 

Ive been trolling these head unit forums for a couple of years. I have 2015 nonJBL with backup cam in factory HU. Ive been holding out for a plug and play that takes care of the backup camera. Hopefully Im getting closer as I see the JBL units retain camera in the harness.

 

Does Joying ever do like, black Friday sales or something like that?

I don't want to buy and then be surprised when they do 20% off or something.

Added the 10.1" 1080P Version today. Love it! Make sure you get the tethering update from them. Simply plug in your phone and you have internet. No pairing every time you get in.

wtf! i wonder if they have a tethering update for the 8" models from last year. My Tethering has NEVER worked as described but they always said it had the function.

Has anyone had their CarPlay app freeze and not respond no matter what you do? The door (back) and gear (settings) buttons are non responsive on the app as well. I have tried numerous times to go to the home screen, close all open apps and try again without resolution. Any ideas? Everything else works fine.

 

I'm selling a Joying 9" buttonless touch screen that I bought back in December 2021, and uninstalled when I sold the truck. Asking $450 + shipping (should be around $20 probably). I have pics of it somewhere in this thread. They don't sell this version anymore, only the ones with buttons.

This came off a 2014 w/JBL. So should fit 2013-2015.

Comes with integrated dash cam and ODBII reader

I need to scour this thread, but I just attempted stuffing a 2015 OEM radio into my '05 and I noticed three "problems"
1. Don't know where to mount the sat antenna (but not sure I really care, probably disconnect and store it for now)
2. Need some sort of adapter for the old school antenna plug to the new style from shark fin (or a shark fin style and a more complicated install, then ditch the old mast antenna)
3. The a/c vent bezels don't really line up too well, I'm thinking I maybe need a bezel from a 2015 to match the radio?

 

Sat antenna? For GPS? I mounted it on top middle of the dash near the window.

 

Hey there all, I purchased a knobbed version from Amazon and paid the extra for the warranty offered by them, mainly because of some of the issues in this and other forums.
My issue is that while sitting in my driveway putting on interior panels (from a carpet replacement) it went blank, I reset the main unit and the screen after cycling the key. Pulled it back out and found 12v on the constant pin, but no keyed 12v(I run 2 amps for sub and speakers). I put this thing in on Tuesday, and it’s Friday! This thing may have already broken.
My radio fuse is good and there isn’t any other fuses or circuits tied in, is there?
I’ve got my return pending from Amazon as soon as I drop it at ups.
Am I missing something here?

 

Got a 2014 Access Cab with OEM reverse cam through the OEM head unit.

Will the Joying work with OEM camera? I emailed them and they said they will include a plug and play canbus harness for it to work. I’m skeptical as I have yet to see this in forums, everyone says OEM can won’t work.
