2015 tacoma non jbl...backup cam in entune. Ive read entire thread and all the reviews I could find on Joying for Tacoma.
Im no better off knowing if factory backup cam is plug and play. I saw one post saying it was and several saying its not. Did joying upgrade compatibility since all the write ups on how to wire it with rca cable?
Joying specs say it wont retain factory backup cam.
I reached out to Joying directly and was told it would retain backup cam. Though im still not convinced.
If you've been able to plug and play with no wiring modifications and backup cam works, could you share which model joying

2014 Tacoma. My backup camera works fine with it and I installed my unit a couple of years ago.

Hey everyone, I received my Joying radio yesterday (2010 Tacoma non JBL w/oem reverse camera. I previously had a Kenwood also connected to my oem camera. There is a video wire connected to the camera by splicing speaker wire and a existing power wire that was connected to the previous radio. I left a small section of purple/white wire to remember the camera power connection. I also ordered two additional usb ports since it has 3 usb capabilities. I will fully install today.
    Questions:
Is there a way to install oem radio brackets for security purposes?
Is there a way to install a front camera?
I may have more questions as I get to know the unit.

I used OEM brackets, required modifications.

    Front camera plugs into Video.

My Joying only had the "Backup Cam" input on the pigtails but I plugged my front camera to the "AUX" Video input and was able to map one of the steering wheel buttons to turn it on. I noticed if you opened the "AUX" app on the head unit, it would switch the audio inputs and stop my music, but if just using the mapped buttons it would display the front camera without interrupting my current audio.

I just finished installing my new Joying 11.6 (JY-TQ116N8G-H) unit and so far it's been much better than my Kenwood it replaced. Still working out a few issues but what's bugging me the most right now is that some of my steering wheel buttons don't register with the Joying. I have a 2014 Tacoma Sport, and I was able to map all of the buttons except the Left, Right, Return/Back button, and Center button. When I open the "Steering Control" app, all of the other buttons register a keypress when I hold down the button except for those four. My Kenwood with the Maestro box was able to map them without issue. I emailed Joying and their response was "If other buttons can be learned and only these three buttons cannot be learned, maybe these three buttons are not be compatible for using with the head unit." Is anyone else having the same issue? I feel like if the other buttons are sending a signal to the HU, then the rest of them should be too.

I installed a HW button that supplies power to the aftermarket front camera. CarLauncherPro tells Joying display the front video/view.

How are you triggering it to display the front when pressed? Is it also sending voltage to the reverse signal wire on the Joying to display?

Where did you get the camera?
Also, I like that screen. Is that a option for Joying or did you upload that?

Front and rear cameras are on a two separate circuits. When the key is turned to acc or start the front camera can send power through to the front camera. The CarLauncherPro tells Joying to display the front view.

Assuming front camera is on. When in reverse, the rear camera comes on and has priority over the monitor. I can put the car in reverse the rear camera come on, shift to drive the front camera comes on. Handy in parking lots, and on trail.

Ah, so it's app level controlled? I'm using Carwebguru, so I'll have to dig through the settings to see if something similar is available. I'd like to free up my steering wheel buttons for other tasks.

to guys who have bought this for a 2.5gen

is it truly plug and play? Would be great if I could actually install it myself, but I don't know jack about wiring and don't trust myself to not fuck it up.

Also, is a sim card required? I saw mention on the product page that one isn't required...
