Just make sure after you get it installed, to open up and play with the EQ app. You'll be surprised how much better the sound is over stock HU

Lol dang wish I saw this. I bought mine from the normal page, no different harness. Backup camera didn’t work but I bought the one they included and that does work. Factory USB/Aux don’t work, and I can’t map my steering wheel controls either.

Anyone know of a way to get the steering wheel controls working? Or do I just have to pay up for the harness? 9” version for a 2014 non jbl

Also the backup camera that came with it…sheesh that’s some poor quality lol. Doesn’t bother me that much but pretty shocking

Like the image or build quality? The AHD camera that came with mine looks really good on the 11" 1080p Joying display. The build quality...is ok. It cut out completely during some of the super cold days over the winter. And the hinge for it is kinda rusting a little.

The image lol. Build quality seems middle ground but the image of the camera they gave me is pretty rough. Looks like a backup camfrom the early 2000’s lol. But I lived without one for a year or so so just having one is good enough haha

Hey guys, I just installed the 9 inch version of this headunit in my 2012 Tacoma. I think I have almost everything figured out. I'm running into 1 issue though. I have a BT OBD2 connected so I can use Torque Pro. That seems to work fine but anytime I use BT audio from my phone, the audio skips and pauses randomly. This only happens when the BT OBD2 is connected. If I unplug the OBD2 the BT audio is just fine. Anyone have this issue or know how to fix it?

Main question is, why are you using Bluetooth audio from your phone when this radio both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay?? You should be using those! Like, that's the number 1 reason why people buy these things!!

Thanks for the reply but that is really not MY question. If all I wanted was android auto there are far cheaper options out there. I think just using this HU for android auto is kinda overkill. Why would I use android auto when the HU can do all that and more. I have tried android auto but I really don't like it.

Honestly, just message their support - they should have included the correct harness. The factory backup camera, factory USB and steering wheel controls all worked plug and play without any configuring, so sounds like you got the old/wrong harness. Their support has been really great from my experience - reference this page if needed: https://www.joyingauto.com/toyota-universal-harness-support-factory-reverse-camera.html

All the Headunits are the same, it's only the harness and fascia that are different for each vehicle so they just included the wrong harness. Worst case you just purchase that harness I linked but I'd be shocked if they didn't at least try to help you out.

Good luck! Let us know your outcome :)

I think they will all look bad because the connection to the HU is a RCA plug, which max resolution is 420p - on a 9/10/11inch 1080p screen that's going to look pretty rough. Honestly, doesn't bother me too much - not the most premium but it does what it needs to do.

They use AHD, Analog HD, so they can send 1080p over RCA. It looks great on my Jeep's 11" Joying HU with 1080p screen. If you have the 1080p screen, make sure you're getting the Joying AHD cameras and not a regular backup cam. They are different!

I bought a 9" Joying unit for my 2014 AC non-JBL tacoma about a year ago, haven't got around to installing it yet.

Is there a good how-to thread with photos & detailed installation notes/instructions on TW? I looked around a bit in this 59-page main thread but didn't see anything.

weird because I did order the camera through the product page with the headunit. But like I said, I survived for years without one so just having one that works is a blessing

I’ll have to reach out about the wiring harness issue havoc mentioned. Would be great if that’s all it took.

I’m also noticing it’s kinda hard to get the proper bass out of my sub with the equalizer…not as punchy as it used to be on the old headunit. Wondering if my shop forgot to hook up my line out converter along with everything else.

As @rnish said youtube. You may not be able to find one definitive or ultimate video showing exactly how to do the install. Watch several videos on how to remove the stock radio. Then watch videos on how to remove the hazard and clock panel (this is really the hardest part of the install). Then watch videos on the install.

Notice that I recommend watch several videos on each part of the the process. I've gotten in the practice of watching quite a few videos on whatever task while taking in the good points and eliminating what I wouldn't do. Once you watch and rewatch videos you'll begin to understand what I mean.

You've waited a year so take the time to watch some videos and then take your time while doing it. It's actually fairly simple. Except for that damn hazard and clock panel.
