I have the 8" with knobs (that I hardly ever touch) that runs on Android 10. I could upgrade, but don't see the need in my case. This head unit (HU) has been in my truck for about 3 years and has been through freezing weather in AZ, UT and CO. It has also been through hot summers in South and West TX. The HU has been pretty much flawless. I have had to reset it several times, but from time to time I have to do the same with my laptop or desktop and even my Pixle phone for that matter.

Some say it runs hot. I have not had that problem. Overall, I'm very pleased especially coming from the 6 disc factory radio. I now have hundreds of songs to select from and a selection of movies. The radio signal can be a little weak when you're away from a city. I mounted the external mic up by the sunglass holder and people hear me just fine during calls.

I also added their backup camera a few months ago and wired it to come on when I want and not just in reverse.

I just replaced my truck battery for the 2nd time since I installed my Joying HU, been less than a year. anyone have any issues with the HU killing battery? I keep on the standby mode, so wondering if that might be the problem.

Not me. Battery installed 3-18, radio installed 1-22. Both going strong. I'll check in the AM to see if I have it set on the standby mode. Almost positive it's a no.

@stmpjmpr I checked this morning and I have mine set to go into the sleep mode when the ignition or acc is turned off. When I turn on it does not go through the google bootup screen or a boot screen logo. I have mine set to go straight to the AGAMA launcher and boots up pretty quick, maybe three seconds.

I see you have a spot for SiriusXM on the AGAMA Launcher. Did you actually get SXM working with the Joying and stock Shark Fin antenna? If so how's the interface on AGAMA/Android? Super curious. Or is that just a shortcut to the SXM Android App? Thanks! :spy:

I have the Sirius Onyx Plus. I often travel where there is little to no cell service. I have to turn on the Sirius unit, then tap the shortcut SXM button to hear it through the speakers. I have it plugged into the head unit via a RCA audio in jack. BTW, no shark fin antenna on my '07, only the stock whip.
Picture shows how the Sirius is set up in the cubby.

I've emailed them a couple of times with different questions and they have always replied. It takes a little while, 12 hours or so, but they do reply.

Mine is in sleep mode when the truck is turned off. Your head unit being in standby mode may be the issue.
Here's a pic on where the sleep mode is. I jotted down the code to access the factory setting for my head unit on that pic.
The next pics are how to access the application settings and showing that I have set the AGAMA launcher to start up instead of the chrome or logo bootup.

    Hope this helps.

Question for the audience. During your install process, did you end up with a connection that was for your stock radio not find a matching plug from the wire harness? I understand that some connections from the truck may not be used such as for satellite radio, but the factory plug I have circled seems rather important.
Along with the picture of the plug I circled, the next photo is a front view of that plug. The next couple of photos are the remaining open connections from the wiring harness. Both are not matching.
I have an email into Joying customer support and waiting on an answer.
I have an adaptor plug to retain factory USB and the factory GPS antenna. The truck is a 2013 with JBL and Entune.

It’s been a few years but are you sure those are not your Climate Control and Haz/Clock harnesses?

I'm certain that I'm not. I separated them from the rest of the wires. Some feedback I have received in other Tacoma groups that have installed their Joying and other aftermarket units is that they too had an orphan factory plug after install on their JBL equipped system. So that may have solved one issue. My current issue now is that it is not powering up upon turning on accessories. All my connections are correct and the fuse on the head unit is not busted but I haven't pressed the reset button to see if that resolves the issue.

You will need to hit the reset button anytime the screen is disconnected from the main unit. It will show just a blank screen.

Well, I've been reading this forum for a while but never really posted. I've got a 2012 double cab that I've been enjoying for years. Finally pulled the trigger on the Joying head unit. I've got it installed and it did take, for me, quite a bit of tuning to get it where I wanted. I'm not out of the woods yet and am mostly satisfied with the purchase and install. I've got the single knob Android 12 model. Very nice dash fit!

I was able to get it working with the OEM backup camera. The resolution is a bit grainy but I expected that and am happy with the results. (I've got a front and rear camera for the joyings if anyone wants it?)

I was able to replace the boot logo to Toyota, they make that fairly simple. I'm playing around with replacing the boot animation.

The sim card slot sucks. If you're interested in using this one with a sim, it can be frustrating. Its cheap and there aren't really explicit instructions for getting the sim working with varying providers. Not to mention that metal lock for the sim card broke while I was trying to get a sim from my phone to work in the Joying to see if it was worth paying for the second line. I wouldn't recommend it from a sim point of view, but that was not entirely important to me.

Sound quality using the OEM speakers is pretty good, not bad, I can live with it. Sounds a bit better than the stock head unit. I am considering upgrading all the speakers if I can find a good kit that is truly plug and play. If anyone has any good suggestions, do let me know.

    GPS - works great.

The app for music that comes native on the Joying isn't exactly feature ridden but works. I've been using PowerAmp and like it a lot.

The USB connections are great and I wired the OEM USB in the center of the dash below the HVAC controls. Works great, plug and play. I added the USB ports (single) to blank compartments in the center of the dasj below the HVAC, works great. I tried to find a dual USB for those ports to no avail but had plenty of blanks that weren't in use.

Screen resolution is good. ITs really nice to have a bigger more up to date screen. A big part of why I bought this.

The mic for phone calls. . . . I tried the built in mic on the front of the head unit. Sucks. I tried the mic that comes with the unit. Sucks. I was able to get it working with the OEM mic (plug and play). The OEM mic worked fine with the JBL system that came with the truck. I've having challenges getting good voice quality with the OEM mic using Carplay or merely using bluetooth for phone calls. I do a lot of my business over the phone and really need a good solution in the truck. I travel a lot and take a lot of calls for work so this is imperative. I'm a bit frustrated at the moment. I've been searching the internet for a mic upgrade that is OEM fitment with little luck. I see the enfig OEM replacement mics. Seems they fit the slot where the OEM mic is kept and plug into the head unit via 3.5mm audio jack in the back of the Joying. I've not yet tried it but am considering it. Has anyone had any luck with this one? How's the sound quality? I realize my truck is now 12 years old and there aren't a lot of options for mic upgrade... but I'm looking. Does anyone have a good recommendation on upgrading the OEM mic with the Joying? I'd be interested to know your experience. I'm really just down to getting an improved mic.. I've cranked up the input gain for the OEM using the Joying menu but even with that, still getting bad voice quality. Hoping someone can help me out. There has to be a higher fidelity solution for the mic.
