I didn't have to do that with the Joying head unit I installed 3 years ago. Although, all of my videos are on a thumb drive. I haven't tried watching youtube or other streaming services. That could be different.

Don’t need to. There is an option to disable it in one of the system preferences. It’s been awhile so I can’t remember exactly which one. By doing this you can search for addresses while moving, watch videos and anything else your heart desires. I like to watch Hot Ones on YouTube while stuck in traffic. There is also a hack to make Netflix work as well.

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
As far as I can tell, the only restriction on playing videos while driving is on actual video files that you've downloaded. mov & avi files, for example. I've played videos through Plex and YouTube with no problem while driving...

...I'll add that I wasn't watching the video, except for the few seconds it's up after pushing play. I minimized the app, and just listened to the audio.

However, if you do want to play actual video files while driving, I believe there's a setting somewhere to allow it.

I'll also add that I got the bigger screen with no physical buttons. I didn't think I'd like not having buttons, however with the new gestures feature, I don't miss them at all. Swipe up/down with two fingers for volume, and left/right for the next or previous song. Don't even have to look at the screen.

I went with the 11.5 inch with the QLED screen. I've only had it 3 weeks, and im loving it. You can see it perfectly, even in direct sunlight.

You do have to modify the factory mounting brackets a little, since it has to sit in front of the factory hole, but it's really simple. Just need to carefully measure, and drill one new hole on each bracket.

Does anybody know which cords these go to? I couldn't find a place for them. Which cord is for which essentially. There are 3 total.

Also the original frame seems to not fit flush due to the dimples on the frame. It won't seat flush against the single din. What has anyone else done about that?

I think I ended with 2 not going anywhere in my installation.

2nd gen Joying Head Unit Thread

I need to plug later today the antenna from Joying as the OEM one is not working even if I was able to plugin it to the radio. I will look at my "left=over" and let you know here.

1 of my 2 left over (same as you):

I am also curious if someone knows what those connectors are for? (radio antenna? connector looks very similar ...)

And here is how I connected the grey RJ plugin cable:

I'm assuming one is for the siriusxm antenna. Not sure what the other two are for.

I'm having trouble getting the back up camera to show up as well. I have the yellow connectors connected. Tried each combination I could come up with but no dice.

EDIT: The more I think about this, the more i believe those last two cables are 1) the Sirius XM antenna like I previously mentioned, but the other is probably the GPS cable. Since there is a new one that comes with the Joying it is probably be what it is.

Can anyone confirm my suspicions that knows?

Okay i figured out the setting on the head unit fixed the back up camera. So the OEM back up camera on a 15 DCSB works just fine if the settings are accurate. I did order both cameras from joying. My question is what is the path one takes to install the front camera. For instance where does the wire path go to get the camera to the front of the vehicle?

next question is the rear. Has anyone swapped out the back oem camera with the joying camera? How was the quality? Is it a big enough difference? Also what is the path for that camera to get to the tailgate? Or or is it possible to mount the rear camera elsewhere and keep the OEM camera? Last question on this matter, if one is able to use the joying back up camera and the oem back up camera in conjuction with one another, where would be some of the better options for mounting locations in that scenario?

Has anyone installed the joying TPMS? If there is a how-to link somewhere I would appreciate a link to it. Thanks guys. You all rock!

I have that one too. But it just sits there and is not secured. I was wanting to secure it with a mounting bracket.

Does everyone's steering controls work? All of mine work plug and play except the center (play/pause). And nothing happens when I try to manually set the controls

I just intalled mine joying over the weekend. Still sorting out a couple issues as well. However, all my steering controls work that I can tell. THat was plug and play. There were two cords that didnt' have a match. I'm assuming those were the Sirius XM feed.

My two main issues are how to mount the joying to the truck so that it's completely secure. Right now its just loosely sitting in the space.
THen I bought a network card, and I read that after installing it you have to hard reboot the joying? But I don't know how to do that exactly to get the network card working.
Also my OEM mic is lame and I would like to upgrade that to be able to be heard better.

I have JBL speakers w/ subwoofer but my head unit doesn't have JBL on it. Anyone have info on why? I can order a joying based on the dash photo but that would be the non-jbl one I think?

Do you have Tweeters in the door card (near the lock/latch) as well? If you have the tweeters, JBL Speakers and the Sub, I'd wager you'd want the JBL compatible Joying, as all those inputs/components need to be driven by the new HU, and that's what makes the difference vs. your existing head-unit.
