@EveryDayIsTacoTues Yea I have the tweeters. I ordered the JBL compatible Joying but it ended up only powering the tweeters and front door speakers, the sub and rear door speakers have no power. I re-checked their photos of which one to order and based on that I should have gotten the non-JBL one, but that's odd given my JBL emblems on the doors/tweeters/sub.

Thanks for the link, I think this set up might be my next upgrade. From what I'm seeing via your link you've got to tell them what it's going in and they send the appropriate harness to make it plug and play as far as wiring goes? How much does that tack onto the bill? I've still got the Awesafe sitting here I need to get off my butt and post in the for sale area.

:notsure: Beats me! If you're not the original owner, maybe the PO did some hodge-podge. Hopefully it all works out.

Has anyone found a microphone that works well with the joying unit?

I would also like to find a simple solution where I could get good sound from an oem location mic.

I'm hoping to utilize the stock location and feed the wire through the headliner and down a pillar but have heard that many aftermarket mics are not compatible with units like this.

There's a post in this thread, maybe 10 or more pages back about a mic that the poster stated that was better than the Joying mic.
I use the supplied Joying mic and have never had the person on the other end complain about the sound or volume.
Side note on my truck; I installed a two part sound deadening system within a week of taking possession of my truck. That could make a difference...

Yes, on the PS then tucked it in the headliner and out at the edge of the sunglasses holder thing.

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
Correct, I just told them the details of my truck, and they sent the correct wiring harness. They can also upgrade the memory & storage if you like. They actually didn't charge me extra for the harness, but I had originally ordered the 9" that comes with it, then changed my mind, so it might have been an oversight.

I also had to make some minor modifications to the factory mounting bracket. Nothing major. Just filed off the alignment nubs, and drilled a new hole in each.

So I made the purchase and installed this yesterday. It's much better than the original joying mic and it fits nice in thr oem position. But it's not as loud or clear as the original microphone from what I've gathered from those I've called. Maybe at 80%

Been following this thread for a bit and finally joined this forum. Pulled the trigger on the 9” for the 2nd gen and put it in about a week ago. One thing I’m unsure of is it looks like another screen protector is on it. I tried prying it off with my fingernails but it’s really on there and I didnt want to risk taking it off if it was supposed to be there. Not sure if this is normal or not or did joying send me a used unit that someone else put a protector on (shipped from China warehouse)? Plus its a real fingerprint/smudge magnet. Here’s a pic anyways and curious on peoples feedback. Red arrow points to the start of the protector

I’ve tried searching but can’t find anything specific, has anyone seen a well done write up specifically for a 2011 with JBL? I’d like to be sure the steering wheel controls are going to work correctly, as I’ve seen mixed reviews. I’d also like to know if there’s a “simple” way to get the reverse cam from the rearview mirror to the head unit (yes, I’m okay with sacrificing quality). Any other cool tips and tricks for my truck specifically would be a bonus. Things like the cool ideas folks have come up with for where to put the USB ports and/or the mic to make them look “factory”. Thanks for any responses!

I have read through the whole thread and you seem to provide good feedback and reply in a timely manner. I finally got around to installing my 9” inch Joying in my non jbl base tacoma. I got it work just fine but noticed it is Android 10 like yours so it has the same menus as I saw in your pictures. I was under the impression that the HU was compatible with any type of cameras. I bought a oem style tailgate handle back up camera and connected the red and black wires to the reverse light wiring in the rear. At the front I connected the yellow plug into the one coming from the Joying harness and connected the single red wire to the orange (back) wire coming from the joying harness. When I go in reverse nothing happens and I can’t even find an app or menu settings that belong to the back up camera like I’ve seen in some of the pictures posted on here. Am I missing something, or am I forced to use the Joying specific cameras? I also added a front camera (cheapest I could find on Amazon) but can’t even get the back up camera to work so I haven’t messed with it. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. I thought I did all my research but here we are.

You gotta change the settings in the head unit. I forgot which one it is. I can go look after work but once you change the settings it worked fine for me after that.

thanks for the reply my issue is I don’t seem to have any camera settings or menu for it. I’ve looked everywhere and don’t have the app that let’s you choose front or rear camera.

Just saw this post. I've been packing for a 6 to 8 week road trip so I've been a little busy. Let me go through the menu options to see what I can find. I know when I installed their (Joying) camera I was following their instructions and couldn't get it to work right off the bat.

    I'll get back soon.
