My fellow countrymen! This is GREAT!! I like OEM parts but I love options when it comes to stupid overpriced parts... Dealer wanted $767 + tax for this shaft installed. I have to hunt a local auto machine shop that could do this for me if I supply the part. I would do it myself if I had a place to do it.

Going to look into this in a couple weeks, steering got stiff yesterday and I'm heading on vacation this weekend. Good write up Jon!

I just want to say thank you Jon G!! Saved me a ton of $ and I firmly believe this is an upgrade as it has a grease zerk. Although I have to remember to grease it  I watched a video on youtube for some pointers to get the shaft off. I sprayed everything down for a few days prior, and it came apart with expected force. Unfortunately I had to do it twice since I forgot to index the two yolks. I tried to approximate 180 degrees, but the steering wheel was off 20-30 degrees. Second time was the charm. It was about a 30 minute job the second time, and quite quick. But anyone reading this, do yourself a favor and index the yolks, and the position on the rack. It will save you some frustration.

SOOO I f*cked up. I didn't secure the steering wheel and messed up the spiral cable. I am so pissed that went over my head. So if you plan to do this, secure your steering wheel!!!

Well shit. Went to install my all balls kit (same one OP bought) and it only came with 3 retaining clips for the caps. Pretty sure I ought to have 4! WTF?!?

Give them a shout, I'm sure they will send you one or two in case you lose it trying to install on the truck. That way you are double protected

Getting a new kit overnighted. All balls racing stepped up. Good company. Amazon seller however (Orange Cycle Parts) didn’t even pick up their phones and you can’t leave VMs either.

Just a thought ... what about installing a grease/Zerk fitting on the cover plate of the non-greasable bearing?
I ordered a new intermediate steering shaft (that comes w/ the non-greaseable bearing), along w/ the Honda 237-191010 greaseable bearing. I’m going to install a grease fitting and install that one. Then take the old, locked up shaft and replace that old nasty bearing with the new Honda one.
Anyone have a preference or recommendation on whether to use a 90*, or 45* grease fitting?
Thanks! LOVE the expertise contained here!5683F331-8973-4E44-B157-B761DF59B746.jpg

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I’ll buy your rebuilt old shaft if you’d like to do something like that

U sure u wanna do that? Plenty to go wrong with this job and if it comes apart you lose steering and could die or kill others in a worst case scenario.
I , for one, even tho I installed it in my truck wouldn’t sell these without a rock solid liability waiver from the buyer.
