I checked out the All Balls 19-1010 and found it at FortNine out of Montreal for $23.99. I have couple motorcycles and have ordered many parts from them and found their prices some of the best in Canada. I checked this thread cause I'm starting to have hard steering when going around corners. It starts out hard, releases and then easy to steer until I change directions again. When cruising down the road I'm not moving the steering wheel and all is fine. I'm going to try to clean up this u-joint first, blast it with a pressure washer, some release oil, and then spray her with white grease to see if it solves the problem. If that doesn't solve the problem, it will be repair time.

Myself and a friend have had good luck with the Rust Check Rust Inhibitor Spray ( the red can ) on that joint, seems to penetrate / lubricate well, and smells like cherries!, what's not to like?

So I ordered the whole lower steering shaft because I couldn't confirm that this U-joint would fit my 2WD 5-lug. They sent me the wrong part! However, I was able to compare the 2 shafts side by side and take measurements.

The 2WD and 4WD models have the exact same size U-joints. Part# 45203-04010 is roughly an inch shorter than part# 45203-04020 and are otherwise identical.

I have since ordered the AllBalls 19-1010 U-joint, repaired my lower steering shaft and installed it. So I can confirm that this repair works on 2WD non-Prerunner models.

I got the U-joint from FortNine for $23.99 Canadian ($36.14 shipped and including taxes). The whole lower shaft was from the seller DIYAPS on Amazon.com for $145.95 US shipped (over $200 Canadian). For comparison, the 4WD shaft from the same seller is $57.95 US. The extra labor is totally worth it; I saved $165 for an hour of work.

Finally got around to installing my All Balls joint today. Of course the bolt on the lower yolk had to break, and although it broke in the middle, a little was still in the recess making driving it off that much harder. This then led to having to grind flush the little bit of threaded bolt that sticks out and then drill it out. Ended up replacing it with a 5/16” x 1 1/2” bolt and nylock nut. Installing the u joint went pretty smoothly. I ended up off a spline so a quick tweak of the tie rods and i was all gtg. Steering feels smoother. There was a good amount of play in the old joint so even though a shot of lube smoothed it out it was time for this.

No, I haven’t. I’ve looked it over myself and although I have a lot of heavy surface rust I haven’t found any holes. Not sure if I’m disappointed or not.

Forgot about this thread. Took it in back in early august. It qualified and I'm waiting for my new frame to come in . I'm thrilled because my brake lines, trans lines and all the connections are a horror show.

Only took me 10 mins to ruin this $50 shaft trying to replace the universal

I ordered another shaft but I’m going to install it as it comes. I guess I’ll return or sell my All Balls universal joint.

Your oem one was too rusted to swap the all balls u joint into and reuse? How about taking the new one you damaged to a welder and just have a bead welded into the spot you messed up? Beyond that for $20 just keep the all balls u joint around because the new ungreaseable joint will eventually have to be replaced.

I never did end up replacing the U-joint on my 2010 Taco. Gave it 10 or 12 moderate whacks with a hammer to free/break up the rust in the U-joint and flushed it with a ton of penetrating oil and it was fine the rest of the time I drove it till I traded it in!! Day before trade in I discovered both sway bar links in front were both snapped due to corrosion. oy vey!!

my steering was sticking (but no play) and found this thread thank you.
my poor farmer temporary fix was to spray and exercise joint till loose, then cable tie a length of plastic vacuum cleaner hose around it and pump it full of red grease. it's been too good since winter to fix it any more : )

    Thanks for this.

I did this mod and I’m happy with the results so far.

I replaced the original shaft with an Amazon special. It lasted about 3 years of easy driving before the ujoint started get slop in it.

I ordered the all balls u joint and it went in like a charm.

Currently , the all balls universal joint is " NOT " available .
All Balls doesnt make the universal joint , they just plaster their name on the package
