So this problem is inevitable? Just a matter of when?

most of the posts I read have been from ‘08’s and ‘10’s. Just when I thought I was safe with a ‘15, I saw some third gen owners with the noise.

    ☹️

I wonder is this is the cause of the random feel on petal press... barely enough on there making it feel all over the place.

I don’t really think so. But, I suppose it’s possible. Mine seemed very much temperature related. Just winding out the motor to say 4500 rpm and then shifting would result in the pedal failing to come all the way back up. I had to put my foot under the pedal to pull it up.

Thinking about that. If those clutch fingers are digging into the sides of that bearing and jamming things up a bit, I suppose that could explain the inconsistent feel. Hmmm. It’ll be very interesting when I get this trans out of the truck to see what’s been going on.

Don’t know if this is a dumb thing to ask but......if you have a aftermarket clutch, are the tips of the fingers on the pressure plates different in length?

That I do not know for sure. However, it’s their clutch too. So, I certainly hope that they aren’t that stupid.

I think that common sense dictates that you make stuff to work in harmony with the OE components. If it’s only compatible with an aftermarket clutch, then the customer better be informed about it!

I have a Spec clutch and pressure plate. When the petal gets sticky, I can usually get it to act semi normal if I pump it several times.

It would be interesting to hear from Spec what diameter bearing they recommend for their clutches for this application.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a URD stage 2, tob, heavy flywheel and the arp bolts. A guy somewhat close to me has a brand new setup unused. He totaled his fj and will sell me the clutch at a good price.

Solid question actually. Should be the same length but maybe slight differences in different brand pressure plates could account for inconsistencies.
Their clutch came with a throwout bearing. Have it in the garage somewhere.

I have the URD twin disc clutch and pressure plate and the fingers on it look like they are longer than stock. I don’t have a measure meant but this is a pic of what it looks like with clutch alignment tool installed

I have one that came with my URD flywheel... I dont own calipers, so a ruler would be the best i can do... no numbers or markings on it anywhere

For those who installed with success how does the cm bearing do offroad and in 4wd? Did anyone give theirs a little abuse yet and see if it could take it? Will it handle shifting at the rev limiter etc? I was already kind of skeptical after hearing about the leaking and inconsistency issues, after seeing that the bearing appears to be just barely catching the pp i think i will hold off until more is known about the durability and longevity of their kit. Has anyone reported back to clutchmasters to see if they would do anything about the apparent issues?

Haven’t off-road with mine but I do have a crawl box that helps a lot in that scenario anyways
