The stance of your truck looks good. What are you measuring up front? I'm looking to upgrade from my AAL to Dakars and I'm worried that I'll have too much rake.

Thanks man! The front is at 24 1/8" on both sides with OME 886s. The rear has slightly settled now though and it looks perfectly level.

Edit: I said 887s at first on accident, I used to have 887s but now I'm rolling with the 886s

So you have like 3 1/2" of front lift ?

Correct, I was pretty surprised to get that much, but at least that way it has room to settle in the front with a plate bumper in winch, which I'll be adding eventually

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Dakar leaf pack and have been reading the measurements from page 1. People are removing the 3rd spring or the or the top overload spring.

Other then the small lift difference, why one over the other? Is the ride smoother with the top overload removed? The name suggest that removing it would reduce your load capacity, yes? Is the purpose of removing the 3rd leaf simply to reduce the lift? What effect does this have if you leave the over load spring in with the 3rd spring removed.

It's probably in here somewhere but I don't have the time to read through 30 pages of posts at the moment so if anyone can help, much appreciated.

Removing the top overload reduces height without reducing the stiffness of the pack , removing the 3rd reduces height and stiffness of the pack , plus some capacity

Thanks OZ. So if I'm not carrying a load in the bed all the time, which I don't except for the summer months when I do my camping, I would be better the remove the 3rd leaf if I want a more civilized street ride, yes?

    Yes

Other options are air bags or Timbrens

What's Timbrans? What about taking the Dakar leaf pack apart and De arching them. Wouldn't this also allow you to change the ride hight and make them softer without having to remove the third or over load leaf....?

    Timbrens

    http://timbren.com

and if you're going to go to all that trouble to try to reduce the ride height and firmness of the Dakars just get the Wheelers HD leaf pack
