Just completed my first suspension build. I’ve been wanting to do this for 2 years, and you all have unknowingly helped me tremendously in my decision making.

I went with OME 885X coils, 1/2” spacer plus trim packer on DS, front and rear Nitrochargers, and a Deaver add-a-leaf in my TSB rear leaf pack. I gained roughly 3 1/4” in the front, and 2” in the back.

    Tires and alignment soon.

Can you report back how it all lined up? And how the suspension feels on high and low speed bumps after alignment?

Pics of your CV angles? Getting ready to go with OME but 887’s so should be just under your 3.25 inches in the front.

Gonna need new UCA's with that much lift in order to possibly get your alignment in spec

Everything feels tighter, and more controlled. Not near the body sway it had. I can’t really report on bumps yet. I will get pics of the CV’s up, I knew that was coming. I have no idea how my alignment will go, I understand I will most likely need UCA’s to get close to spec. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised how well it drives. I thought I’d be all over the place. It drives straight down the road, no vibes at all, and I got it up to 85 last night.

Also, it looks nose high in the picture, but really level in person, I like it.

Here are my actual before and after measurements, just after I got done.

    Before After

    Front:
    DR: 19 3/4 23 1/8
    PS: 19 7/8 23 1/4

    Rear:
    DR: 21 3/8. 23 1/4
    PS: 21 1/4 23 1/2

Nice setup! My 885s (with Nitrochargers) only gave me 2.5" up front. But I got almost 3" in the rear with the 3 leaf progressive AAL in the rear (kept overload leaf).

When I ordered mine from Headstrong Offroad, the chart showed 2.5" of lift for the 885 coils (couple years back). Last I checked, they don't have the chart and refer you to OME's spec which shows 1.75" of lift with the 885 (https://arbusa.com/site/wp-content/uploads/toyotaTacoma.pdf). If others see this, did OME change their spring? I don't know what to make of the differences and how OP got over the list lift amount.

These actually look pretty good. Hard to see the inner fins but from my limited experience they look good for that height.

Here is the updated lift amounts from Headstrong Offroad. They list it under Bilstein shocks but it will not matter as the coil is what is providing the lift.

A perfectly level 2nd gen still looks “bro lean” with the lines of the truck. Another 1/2” in back would look badass.

    Thanks guys!

I was happy about the CV’s. I was pretty nervous when I still had it on jacks, but once I got it on the ground with some weight on it, they flattened out pretty good.

I’m not sure what to make of it either. That’s why I posted this, to help anyone considering these coils. I came to get 3 1/4” by adding 1/2” spacers. From what I understood, most people were getting 2 1/4”-2 1/2” from the 885 coils alone. I don’t have a good reason for not going with 887’s, it’s just what I chose to do.

@kfs90 I hear you. I think I’ll get tires, let things settle for a bit, then put in a small block or another leaf if I want a little more in the back.

If you have an old leaf still, cut it short like a block and add it to the bottom. It’ll give you just enough. I’m about to do it to mine, but I’m doing it so my truck has a tiny bit more rake with the bed full of my work tools. Right now with tools, it’s level within a 1/2”.

Thanks for finding and posting that. I was thinking about going with 887's one day, but I can see that it wouldn't change my setup.

So how the heck did OP get more than 3" of lift with the 885's?

Yea, great idea. I don’t have spare leaves, I had the leaf pack TSB done last year and Toyota kept them. I can just make something though. @Musubi3 this is how:

I have an TRDORAC 4X4 and have 5100/884s. I only got 1.75 up front, installed about 1.5 years ago. Since the install I've acquired the LEAN on the driver's front. I will install the 1/4" spacer one of these days. For the rear, HS 3 leaf progressive pack and kept the overload spring. Achieved 2" in the rear.
All other measurements have remained the same over the 1.5 years.
I will be installing a streamline bumper (about 70lbs) and a Smittybilt X2O synthetic rope (shipping label says 55lbs, website shows 67lbs).
How do I achieve a 2" lift at the front without revamping the whole setup? I'm guessing just adding spacers up front will be the easiest and cheapest.

Do you mean the 1/2" spacer kit that achieves 1" of lift? I ask because I didn't see a 1" spacer kit on their site. Also with a 1/2" spacer on each side, wouldn't I still have the lean?

Yes, the 1/2" spacers. Make sure to get the extended studs and add a 1/4" spacer on the driver side on top of the 1/2".

The 1/2" spacer will provide double that amount in lift.
