I have a 2015 DCSB 4x4 TRD OR and I've had an 07 FJ Cruiser with the same engine of course. My son has the FJ now and I have the Taco and they both run great with the basic general maintenance.

I say YES ! Let us know how you do !

130k on my 15 V6 only things that have broke was self inflicted and one dead battery. Been a darn good truck would buy another without hesitation.

As other's have said, frame rot is a known problem. My 06 has a new frame on it from Toyota and so do many others. If you must get a truck that's been exposed to salt try to get one with the frame replacement. Other problem areas to check - front wheel bearings (mine went out at 95K and 105K, respectively) and power steering rack (@ 110K). You can hear the front bearings gowl. For the rack check for any seepage coming from within the inner tie rod boots. Some have reported worn drive shaft U Joints and drive shaft carrier bearing.

don't take that for granted. Florida is not a dry state like Texas or Arizona areas. Look it over good. And be aware of where the truck has been during its life. I bought karmann ghia, granted its 57 or so years old but it was in Florida all its life and the bottom 1\5th of the car was gone. Salty humidity is a slow killer and these trucks are getting up in years.

The Tacoma is a very capable mid size vehicle. However, the towing and cargo capacity of a V6 Tacoma will not be any where near that of a F350 Diesel.

Loved my 04 1st Gen....but my '15 is a definite improvement, especially on the highway. Better in winter as well...not that you're concerned about that!;)

2nd Gen rocks. Mine has had absolutely no problems at all and I wheel it. Good luck with your search.

Check the VIN anyway on the Toyota website.
And get under and look for rust.
Mine was in Utica, New York for most of its life.
Yes, it has a new frame, swapped when the previous owner traded it in.
Mine was built after the head gasket changeover.
Bought with 58k on the odometer. Must have been an old man's truck. :notsure:
    Still is. See below.

Apart from the fact that it was pricey for a used truck, I can't think of any negatives.
There's a reason resale value is so high though.
Drives tight and solid like new.
Plenty of power for me, and the AT works fine.
Easy oil changes, easy in general to work on.

I don't care for all the gadgetry on new vehicles.
Yeah, I suppose I could get used to it.
The only things I can think of that I would like are a new head unit and backup camera.
Those can be added easily enough, and I'll get around to it.

I like this truck better than any vehicle I've ever owned.
I'm 64 and retired, so that's a lot of vehicles, most of them bought new.

    Good luck.

No don’t do it. Do you think a Toyota fan website dealing in trucks might be biased?

I love my 14 trd off road and the 6mt does great for towing which I do often with it as long as it’s nothing crazy. I keep a 12 valve cummins for pulling tractors and equipment and such. Just remember the tow capacity will be much less than your 6.0

First time owning a Taco, wouldn't go to anything else now. Love it.
    Good luck.

Negative, its a two part problem. A unifilter wouldn't have done crap for me. My filter was 100% percent intact, checked it myself when truck started throwing the P2441 code.

The other part of the problem is the air pump and the switching valve which is what was replaces on my truck.

Edit: also been theroized that running the unifilter does more long term damage since it allows more dust and so forth through it than the stock filter.

I actually got my 2013 from Florida, no rust at all. Had 70k when I got it, now it has 152k. The passenger occupant weight sensor went bad aaaaaaaand yep that’s all the issues I’ve had
