I had a P2714 and P0776 code come up a couple months ago. If I braked too hard or even sometimes on a turn, the transmission would only go up to 3rd gear and if I let go of the gas the revs will drop all the way and go into neutral. I would have to pull over and restart the truck and everything would be back to normal until it happens again. I finally changed my transmission fluid and it is running like a champ, no issues at all but those two codes are still there. Any idea? Also mechanic tested both solenoids and said that they are working properly.

Did you clear the codes after the fluid change?

Sounds like your linear solenoid valve (SLT) may be the culprit. I'd start by checking that.

You need to drop the pan on Trans.
I’d clear the codes. Then wait and see if they return.
I wouldn’t check anything until then. I don’t like dropping the pan on anything.
Let alone these trucks with their stupid fluid level check procedure.

Great information on the Trans can be found here.
Definitely take a look at the ATSG manual located attendant bottom of post 1.

Cleared the codes Friday before driving home and it hasn’t came back on since. Glad I don’t have to mess with it anymore. Thanks for everyone’s advice!
