Don’t find mine annoying but then again it is under a 5% tint strip lol![/QUOTE]

hey @TegoTaco do you have the 5% tint along the top of your windshield? do you have tint around the rest of the truck? what percentage? i'm trtying to decide if i wanna tint mine. we have some tint laws but they're kinda hazy and i dont know how strict they are on enforcing them. i've had 20% Before on another car and as always have loved the looko of the 5% but wonder if having 20% might make it look less suspicious? if that makes sense ha. is it tough to see with the 5?

Hey guys anyone that can help me with the Carlink ASCL6 smart phone module add on I would greatly appreciate it as there were absolutely ZERO instructions given in the product i received from Amazon. Got a great deal on it but no idea how to connect or which harness to use. Or protocol.
The contents of the device are pictured below. I of course have the 12volt solutions module for the 2nd gen Tacoma 2005-2011. Thanks a lot in advance guys. I’ve learned a lot through this but man the instructions have been very lacking for someone who doesn’t do this on a daily basis such as myself !

I have 5% tint all around, including over OEM rear window tint. :) It’s not hard at all, just have to get used to it.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
    1) Find out what brand your remote start module is, for example directed, Fortin, Compustar, etc...you can open up the trim and look, or call 12VS and ask (tell them you bought it from them so they are not reluctant to guard thier secret since they always claim to be manufacturers when in reality they're re-kitting and re-packaging the modules; the harness on the other hand IS theirs and made in house).
    2) Find out which model it is as well (i.e. Directed DB3 or Directed DS4 or Fortin EVO-ALL or Fortin EVO-ONE etc)
    3) Once you find out, you're home free. You can click here and reference the setup based on that you find out from #1 & #2 above.

In most applications, you will NOT need to use the extra 3 wires that protrude from the "MyCar" Main harness in the ASCL6 smart module as seen in the linked instructions (#3 above).

    upload_2020-5-20_17-18-7.jpg

Download the CL6 app from the app store, and after registering, you'll get an activation link in your email.

Some remote starts require that you do a small programming sequence to sync/teach the smart module to the remote starter, while some, you just plug it in. It'll be in the guide I linked above.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Ok got it installed! Ended up not using those extra 2 plugs that were sent with the unit. Only having one problem now. I can’t get the dash fuse pocket cover back in given wires behind the dash from the harness. It just stays open and won’t shut or latch Any tips/best practices? Don’t have a direct pic of what my mess looks like but I’m talking about this area

Just got my Accessorides kit installed today. Install went very smooth, I'll admit the instructions that came with it were pretty vague on the connector locations. To speed things up I used the 12v install video on youtube

    20200531_102157.jpg

I ended up putting the module here and spent some time routing and zip tying everything clean
    20200531_121920.jpg

I did have to splice 1 wire which was the brake sense wire, I ended up soldering it for reliability. I haven't tested the range yet but I'm very happy that the 2 way remote has an audible beep when locking, unlocking or remote starting. I was already doing research on how to wire up my factory keyless piezo buzzer but it looks like I won't need to anymore. The module has some nice output relay options so I might play around with auto roll down windows or something that will engage the AC if it isn't on when the truck starts

@mikalcarbine Could you possibly share your research findings about the factory keyless piezo buzzer? I have been researching all day today and most of yesterday, I think my eyes are bleeding. I'm obviously looking in the wrong places. I installed the Accessorides 1 way kit but did not install the hood switch nor tie into the horn. I do not want the horn to beep at all, I just want the piezo buzzer to sound off the way it did before. Very pleased with the kit except for this detail. I hope this is an easy fix and we can all laugh at me. Thanks!

What I basically found out was the factory piezo can't be driven simple by a 12v pulse from a relay. The ECU responsible for driving the piezo must be sending some kind of PWM signal to make the noise it does. I saw some people buy a piezo buzzer from radioshack and wire it into the remote start but it looked real cheap IMO and I'm not sure how the chirp would sound. I was going to do some testing on my factory buzzer to verify all of this but gave up once I discovered my remote chirps for me (2 way ftw!)

Thank you for the reply! I also saw the radioshack method but did not want to go that route. I guess my search continues. Thanks again!

Where can I buy the 2011 remote start kit you speak of? I would also prefer to keep the stock key FOB.

I'm trying to decide between 12Volt kit and Accessorides kits, both seem pretty easy and have good features... To me the most important feature is the build quality and functionality of the FOB's but I have not seen much info on here about them. Foe the people that have these kits can you provide your opinions on the FOB's themselves? The 12Volt one seems kind of lame how its one big button, and is it heavy? The Accessorides one seems tall but has lots of separate buttons... Do each of them beep and have lights? Just curious to get peoples opinions on the FOB's since neither kit allows you to use OEM FOB.

I'm in the same boat, also curious. I'm leaning toward the second one. I prefer to have a dedicated button, rather than having to count clicks.

I was in the same boat, the Accessorides fobs are much better quality IMO, I went with their kit. Their kit essentially works with any compustar remotes if you wanted something different as well. 12v said they only offer one style fob and I don't like the single button.

I’m trying to program a new replacement key, having trouble with it. I’m thinking it’s the remote start, it must have a bypass in order for the truck to start. It’s not letting my programmer go into programming mode to register my new key. What do you guys think?

The 2 versions on Accessorides site that depicts between 2005-2009 & 2011-2015 each reference the 10th number in the VIN. I have a 2010 DCLB Auto and the 10th letter in my VIN is neither of the ones listed on your site. Is there a true option for 2010 available?

Vinyl wrapped it, the chrome was peeling off. Looks so much better!
