I just installed the asseccorides remote start on 2010. Key fob works to unlock and lock and will remotely turn over the truck but then it immediately goes dead. Cranks and runs fine with key. Any idea what could be the problem. Thanks

Sounds like the immobilizer is kicking in from the sound of it. Is the light flashing? You will probably have to call them direct to find a fix on that though. Maybe they sent you the wrong kit?

Edit: I was just curious. I don't even see one listed on their site for a 2010? What letter is stamped on your key?

The box says it is for 2005-2009. When speaking with them this morning they said that wasn’t an issue. It has ‘dot’ key with immobilizer. The best guess the tech had this morning, after going through several resets and unplugging and replugging, etc, is my battery doesn’t have enough “umph” even though the key works fine. I’m gonna wait on the girlfriend to get home from work and try with jumper cables per his recommendation. Maybe it’ll turn over then. If not, who knows.

Set a key on your steering column, get out, lock up the truck with the fob, and then try and remote start it.

Tried using the jumper cable trick and setting key on column as well actually leaving key in ignition. Still no dice. Accessorides is sending out a new kit. Will update when it arrives.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I just pulled the trigger on the 12volt system. They sent an email with a code for 19% off.
    It was 299.00 with shipping

Haven't read through this entire thread yet so my apologies for sounding lazy/dumb. I've wanted remote start for my 06 TRD offroad for the longest time and I'm finally ready to bite the bullet before it starts to warm up this year. Any recommendations for my truck? Everyone love this mod or any regrets going down this road?

I’m wondering also. 2008 and although it’s almost 12 years old with 183K miles. I just upgraded the sound system and am wondering if putting more and more $$$$ for another extra perk is investing more than enough for something so old but I’m trying to stretch just a little bit longer out of her.

You are solid man. My 06' is about to hit 250k and I'm looking into a 4wd conversion among a ton of other things lol. Not sure if it's the smartest thing but I'm fond of her.

Hey man what can we say. We’re just a couple guys in love with our tacos lol. So you have the TRD Sport model too? The cool thing is we still have the 4L engines. I like the idea of making mine as comfy and tech ready which makes me only enjoy her even longer lol. The way I look at it, little mods here and there are sure cheaper than a car payment every month! Well most mods ha. Which type of remote start are u looking at? I’ve seen some here talk about the plug and plays from accessorides and 12v solutions. Do they come with an alarm also or just the remote start. ? Trying to figure out how to get the best bang for the buck but also not go too over the top. I’ve gone this long without it but with the summer months coming sure would be nice in the south and I’m sure for u in Arizona definitely!

Yeah I moved from AZ down to central Texas and I need a way to cool off the truck before my daughter and I get in because this last summer was pretty damm rough. I have a TRD Off-Road and want to continue to (tastefully) mod my truck because I figured worst case scenario is that I'll simply upgrade to the same truck in 4wd if I decide not to do the conversion myself. In that case I'll just swap over the parts but I'd you ask my 4 year old daughter it's her truck and it'll be passed down to her lol so who knows Haha.

Man that sounds pretty bad ass! Would you use that same setup I'd you were to do it all over again, or have any advice to pass on? Where did you pick it up at for $180? Not even sure of that's a good or bad deal for the remote start option but that's definitely in my budget because I figured it would be way more.

That also doesn't pay for the ongoing data subscription you'll need for it to work.

Amazon - Compustar 7900AS. It's about 150 right now. I purchased the blade AL with the USB FTDI cable used on eBay for $30. Typically the AL is $50+ and the cable is another $40. MSRP of my setup is around $240. Could be less if you shop around!

Did you get your hands on the installer docs? Or did they come with both?

Compustar has some install guides on their website, I'm not sure if dealers get step by step instructions though?

I've been doing some research on this, the 12v/Accessorides kits come with the newer Compustar DC3 which I'm pretty sure doesn't require the blade AL and can be directly programmed using their USB cable. The DC3 is also a bypass and doesn't require an external module (not sure if the CM600 control module included in the 7900AS needs one or not).

I priced out an entire setup which includes the DC3, USB cable and high quality 2 way keys/RF kit for about $240ish. The big difference is that the 12v/Accessorides kit comes with a plug and play harness which I think they either make themselves or buy it from someone who does. I don't think Compustar has a harness for 2nd gen tacos but I could be wrong. They have a TL5 harness that supports many 2010+ Toyotas but the Tacomas are listed as 2016+. The benefit of piecing this together yourself would be you can program the control module the way you want and you have a better selection of keys. I'd prefer plug and play so I think I'll be getting the Accessorides kit

For anyone interested heres the TL5 harness.
    https://www.idatalink.com/accessories/category/product_id/339

If someone wanted to go a different route Viper/DEI has a harness for 2011-2015 Tacomas for their DS4 remote start, part THTON4

It is not plug and play but splicing the wires isn't difficult. I was able to acquire the install documentation as well as wiring information on TW and other resources. I figured out the install and completed it in my spare time in two days for basic alarm and another week for the remote start.

I have only worked with the blade Al and am familiar with it and not the dc3 so I can comment on that.

After looking quickly at dc3, it seems absolutely unnecessary. The blade Al plugs straight into the brain of the 7900as as the remote start is integrated. The dc3 is only required for more basic alarm brains.

Unless you ONLY want remote start and no alarm functions, the dc3 is the way to go.
