I did 884s with a Wheeler's AAL and billies all around. Netted about 2 inches of lift and a stiffer ride on my 2015 dcsb.

I'm confused. The soft stock suspension is perfect offroad. It soaks up bumps and whoops great.

The tighter stiffer suspension is better for cornering on the street. Like race car.

This is why the sport is stiff and the offroad is softer.

Stiff suspension sucks on washboard, jarring on rocks and uncomfortable offroad.

45k miles on my truck. I know I said "soft" in my original post. It's not bad or uncomfortable. It's just not "truck-like" like my lifted '98 Taco I had previously. It died in 2009. That one felt like driving a 4 wheeler ATV. And I like that feeling, especially on ice/snow and in the field. Makes the truck feel more responsive. Especially on brutal ground like a cornfield. Personal thing, I guess.

I'm the same way. I hate squishy suspension - I feel like I can't feel what's underneath me.

^^ Interesting, as I'm in the dark on most of this stuff, but in the back of my mind I was kinda hoping this might be an appropriate route. The back end isn't bad as-is. It's more the front I'm concerned with.

Billies toward level and get a little stiffer up front and see where we're at and move forward from there.

Thanks for your time, guys. Much appreciated. I like this plan... but now you got me thinking about more lift. I've honestly never considered it just cause I thought it would cost an arm and a leg. 1-1.5" would be very nice. And sounds like it wouldn't be a huge cash sink. You know, since we already got the wheels off. Hmm...

Exactly. And for me, driving in a disked cornfield for example, it's like the suspension doesn't recover after one dirt row before hitting the next. Unless I seriously creep. I can never really get a rhythm going. Just constantly fighting it. My Old Taco was awesome in that regard.

Remember, the minute you do a lift you will now open yourself up too a tone of vibration problems and lots of money too fix them.Do 5100's all around with front set at stock level .085 and add a leaf in the back.good luck

Even with something as simple as 5100's and coils up front for 1.5"?

Yes depending on what ride setting you set the billies up front on,anything above stock level will cause vibes in MOST ,but not all Tacoma's,due too the crappy front needle bearing in the diff, lifting the back screws your driveline angles up and causes vibes back there also.Like I said good luck

I always thought the off road suspension was stiffer than the sport.

He is right - I went with a smaller lift to avoid vibes, but I have them. I've done a ton of work trying to fix driveline angles, installing the ECGS bushing, etc to try and fix it. It's still there, so now I'm about to drop about $600-700 to get a one piece driveshaft installed. So keep that in the back of your mind. FWIW, I did not have the vibes after lifting the front, only after I did the rear.

I dusagree with part of this. I'm not saying your wrong and I'm sure have had your own experiences, however I'm currently running 3" up front and around 3 in the rear yes I did install the cb drop when I installed the lift. The truck rides way better than stock and I've had 0 vibes ever from the truck. I have great cv angles and enjoy driving it. My previous '13 tacoma was the same way

Actually you might be right with its progressive coil. I'm crazy. Lol.

Either way I have always liked a squishy coilover setup like king or fox over the stiffer setups like Ome. You just feel way too much offroad.

The OR coils are progressive. They are soft at first to smooth out the little bumps, then are firmer as they compress to absorb the bigger bumps. The sport (and all lower other trim levels) have a linear rate coil, which is stiffer initially.

All OME coils for the 2nd gen Tacoma are 590 pound linear rate springs except for the 886 coil which is a 620 pound linear rate coil.
