2nd gen shifter cable *Help*

My guess would be that it needs the brackets to hold the cable in place to function properly.

 

It's not going to shift until the cable is bolted down.

Is your truck a 2.7?
or a 4.0?

If it's a 2.7, the brackets will be different.

 

Yeah its 2.7 I have to make a custom bracket so it bolts on something from the cab.

 

You need to find someone that has done such a swap, I don't know what's required/different.
I thought this was just a standard shift cable replacement.

 

Haven't seen many do this type of swap. Doin a 3rd gen interior swap

I have almost everything on and wired. Just need to finish the shifter cable
