I've got a 2nd gen skid plate from an 09 Off Road and will be attempting to bolt it up to my 17 Off Road this weekend. I'll let ya know what I find out. Only thing different on the Sport is the chin spoiler, which might get in the way.

Confirmed, the 2nd gen transmission and front skid fit the 3rd gen.

Did you have to use a different set of hardware to mount 2nd gen skid plate on a 3rd gen? I tried putting one on my 3rd gen but the front of the skid plate is touching the bumper. I'm thinking that a longer set of screws up front will fix that.

I first used the longer bolts that came with the 2nd gen skid but your right it touched the bumper. then i stripped the threading in the welded in nut, so i blamed it on toyota cuz i had an oil change the day b4.
They re threaded it, then YES i went to a hardware store and got a little longer bolts, also used 7 thin washeres bewteen the 2 skid plates and it left a tiny gap between the bumper.
    Good to go now20161202_153313.jpg

Thanks for the help! Would you happen to remember the size of the bolts you bought?

I also have a mgm. I did like the contrast of the skid plate when I was test fitting it on my truck. Looks really good in your pic.

I'll see what I can get from the hardware store. I still have to figure out how to remove the existing bolts and spacers from the skid plate. But thanks once again for all the info!

Guys, I'm very late in this discussion.
I put D Rhino rings in my Tacoma.
The question is, this 2rd gen skid plate works with a Rhino rings?

I'm also curious if this would work with Demon brackets
