1.125 diameter and the bar is .125 thick. I'm assuming the thicker the bar, the more weight it can hold? I won't need too much weight capacity. Maybe 100 lbs?

Do you know if they would work on a 1.5" bar? or is the attachment a solid piece? (non adjustable)

and are you asking about 1 bar or having two so that you can simulate a roof rack but in the truck bed?

They may work with the 1.5" bar but thats 3/8" larger than the standard Yakima bar. All the Yakima attachments that I have are designed to work on multiple different bar types so I guess it's possible but I'd prefer a 1 1/8" bar just to stay with the Yakima size. I have the King Cobra attachments and a Yakima box attachment which have adjustable bottoms that mount to the bar like this:

Those plastic pieces tighten around the bar with the twist of a bolt. As you can see, they work on Thule bars as well.

And these jaws grab tighten onto the bar with the twist of a bolt too.

Like you said, I'm trying to simulate a roof rack in my bed for ease of mounting and less wind resistance (i.e. better mpg).

okay, if i can't find a 1 1/8" bar at my steel shop then I can just get a 1'' square tube and then lay a 1/8" piece of flat stock over it. if your okay with that

jhodge83- I'll get a shipping quote tomorrow at the ups store but the price of the bars would be 90$ for both bars, as well as all mounting hardware included

Could you just get a 1" round bar? I could coat it with some rubberized coating or something. Before you make anything, how much are you thinking shipped for both to 93441? You can PM me.

I bought alum and had some made to my spec's but the welder was a clown and messed up 100 bucks of alum .

I am waiting for the shop owner to return so he can replace my metal and I will find another welder to do the job .

The clown burned through the metal and could not weld a straight line , then he took a grinder to it to cover up his shoddy work... I figure I got at least 100.00 dollars worth of laughs out of this goons work though.
Am bookmarking the page and will post pics when done .

well in my opinion you should just get a refund and then have me make you one:p

depending on the design i could probly make you the same thing and ship it to you for less than 100

but it would have to be made out of steel

hopefully i can make a jig for these so that they're way easier to replicate without modeling them off my truck.

but if they turn out good then i'll build you a set :D
